Bitstream fonts that were lying around in my xfce.pup

will install these fonts to /root/.fonts. You will also need mkfontdir.pup from http://www.murga.org/~puppy/viewtopic.php?t=3247&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=mkfontdir

install it and run the following commands in /root/.fonts
mkfontscale `pwd`
mkfontdir `pwd`

make these fonts available for X by using xset fp+ /root/.fonts

Or, if you have Vector installed (and probably most other distros), the Bistream fonts are in:
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TTF/
and they alsready have the fonts.dir and fonts.scale files, so you don't have to run mkfontscale and mkfontdir.
-- just copy the entire TTF contents to /root/.fonts

This is just a little zip file containing FreeSans & few other fonts.
It is really nice & you might like to have.

Note that Pup 1.0.7 has mkfontdir and mkfontscale.

I am going to write a how to on 'better fonts in 1.0.7' after this post
