What a great version of Puppy. Already running well on a couple of older machines. I've checked out all the other options I can find (there are a lot!) and Puppy is the most usable, stable and good looking distro available with this revision2 by ttuuxxx being my 1st choice.
Pwget is broken though and I have checked the mdsum. It's ok.
Thanks again for the huge amount of work you've done for Puppy!

I would like to thank you for this puppy. I like all puppies! I don't have an old PC, but i do admire the less is more theory that all puppies are based on.

Well guys by far this release hasn't had many problems reported which is good Lately I've been really disappointed with Zigberts tactics over my shutdown script that has been the first official one ever used in puppy, he tried to take it away after it was already elected to be default in 4.2, by submitting a stripped down version of the one I made, and then a month later he released another version in the software forum and claimed it as the one which was going to be used in the next puppy release, Once again getting under my skin, and then today he updated again. Funny first we have to deal with ecomoney and his crazy stuff and when the fire settles Zigbert starts up again.
So due to Zigbert extremely pushy and completely overbearing attitude, I'm no longer going to include his main programs in any of my releases, Also I'll only add them back into releases once he has his shutdown script removed from the forum. When Someone spends time developing something and making it work, it feels really nice, and when it gets placed into the default release it feels even better, the wife is proud and the kids also to see it, but when you get a resentful Bastard like Zigbert trying to take it out from under me twice in 2 months and he fully knows how I feel about it and he won't leave it alone. Fine I say, Theres only one thing to do, Drop my support for zigberts applications and graphics!.
My next releases of puppies will be non-zigbert releases.
gone already is pwidgets,ptray
next on the zigbert chopping list will be pmusic, pburn, pfind, pprocess.Deep Thought Themes. I already have xfburn installed which equals pburn minus a few small things, But I have some others that will fill the void.
What does this mean to the average puppy user, All the zigbert replacement programs will shutdown when clicked on, they will not remain running in the background, your system will be faster and more stable, It will also add maybe 1-3MB to the size of the release. I'm tired of running puppy and a have my pc on for a few days and look over at the resources and notice that I still have pburn, pfind running in the background from 2 days ago.
Puppy is about choices, Zigbert has chosen to go against me and I have chosen to drop my total support for his work. These are exciting times, oh yes You'll also have the most update/stable version of puppy, If you have any ideas of small programs to replace zigbert versions please let me know, or if you know of any bugs, please submit them soon, I'm starting my next release tonight
This will be a rapid revolving release first on my list is a more stable version of CUPS.

I've noticed that VLC doesn't work in Puppy 4.2, but, with no problem i installed BMP and it works like a charm. That is for people who like an equalizer with there music.

Thanks ttuuxxx for all the work with Puppy 4.2.
I want a small and resource-saving music player that can easily create playlist through the folders on the hard drive.
And it would be wonderful if the scroll wheel on the mouse does not change desktop.
I tested Pmusic-Player but it did not work as I want, but now I use Alsaplayer and works well.
Forget what I wrote earlier about musicplayer, I am satisfied with Alsaplayer.
I tested your bugfixes version of Puppy 4.2 (shut up) and think it looks good and works well.

Bling killed Xubuntu. Please don't let it kill the puppies.
I had a look at Mephis today. It was a whole CDs worth of bloat, ran like a sloth on smack and didn't seem to understand that WEP is a dirty acronym. That distro is a classic example of what happens when style hides substance and how the developers of a distro start to use guilt tactics to extract money from users. The tone of the site actually reminded me of the ringtone advertisements on the back of magazine covers.
Linux development should be akin to having a Birthday, receiving gifts is nice but just a simple "Happy Birthday" is all that should be sought. Anything else is a bonus.

Well Guys I've been reading your post and I agree 100%
I'll keep building Puppies model in the future, like series 5.0 if it gets the bling treatment again etc, So far I've found
90% replacement for Pprocess (next release,We already have htop which is a 160% replacement for Pprocess, but I find the Gui full-on, The new one is simpler, but I'll keep htop also for more advanced needs )
200% replacement Pfind and its easy to use (next release)
250% replacement for Pmusic (alsaPlayer or BMP,)
100% replacement for Pburn (xfburn, I'll also include WISH Disc-Writer)
all in all less than 1MB extra and all the applications will close when you exit them

I wish that the digital clock uses the 24 hours and as I wrote earlier that the scroll wheel does not change the desktop.

I'll look into the scroll desktop thing, as for the clock time, I'll make you a custom patch or show you how, in the past many users complained that they wanted 12hr format, because puppy by default was always 24hr format and so the change was made. It was something like. I'm using dpup right now, But if the below doesn't work when I boot up 4.2 I'll make a patch.
1. open the /root/.jwmrc-tray (hidden file) using a text editor (geany, leaf pad)
2. then modify this tag ---> <Clock format="%I:%M %p">minixcal</Clock>
3. to be like this: <Clock>minixcal</Clock>

Uh... doesn't a 100% replacement actually have to be able to do the things that whatever it is replacing did? Is there a new version out?
Maybe 80% if you base that on having the features needed 80% of the time? (not on having 80% of all the obscure features)

The Pfind replacement I found was Search-Monkey, How I made that package so small, Is i converted opened the png files in gimp, added a white background and compressed them, and saved them as jpg, and then simply renamed them back to png, that saved 100kb compressed
almost the size of the package. Then I stripped the libs, bins and I then preconfigured Search-Monkey and packed it all up. On dpup when I did the same thing over a week ago it was over double the size due to it using the extra libs in dpup. I hope all the packages on dpup, upup, jpup etc aren't going to be the same.
Anyways disciple I'm still pretty new to Search-Monkey, if you have any better way of configuring it by default, or better config codes, I'm all ears, it would help out this release. Thanks
ttuuxxx

I'll post the others as I test them

Hi Recycler long time not chat Axel in puppies does work, basically axel is a frontend for a terminal application called wget. Durring 4.2 build I did a few things to it,
I had to change the font and background colour because WhoDo reversed the colours of rxvt and so it was a issue, so since I had it opened and was playing with the code I decided to beef it up from 4 threaded downloads per file to 8, then I renamed it to 'puppy download accelerator' so if you look in the internet menu, you'll see it with a new icon Pwget is broken for some reason and so I would use axel, next release I'll tryto get pwget working again
ttuuxxx
puppy download accelerator = axel+ 4 extra threads
