You can fix colour by including in config line, it won't change with theme.

Also set a default colour in config and call wrong colour number and it will default. That's how Moon is white.

I'm just experimenting to push boundary, in Conky some things are possible which aren't in Pwidgets.

I don't use both 'sides' of pwidgets, so I considered for my own purposes to add just a one liner on left and refresh that at short interval, but i think it refreshes both.

I did once have it as two Conkys as an idea, which ziggy developed into split screen.

I've seen multiple Conkys on screen at once, each with seperate configs, so it's possible to use just a small one refreshing often.

The birthday widget made me think maybe it could start to 'flash' the text as a reminder, say 7 days in advance.

Trio,

Just running out some thoughts whilst mind active. Razz

I'm not sure what ziggys done with pwidgets profiles. I don't understand how it's supposed to work?

If I set left profile I get left profile with fixed widgets, there doesn't seem to be any way to refresh them! If you open Pwidgets and refresh you just get back your own profile.
Running 'fixwidgets' in a script for left profile does nothing to refresh.

I've made a config and script, the script changes the text colour in config at regular intervals. It works fine, I see config change. BUT there's no mechanism that I can see will refresh it. Am i missing something here?

There doesn't seem to be a gui to set the widgets for display, or a means to refresh them.

Rob

No need refresh...see how battery and puppyspace change colors when empty/full

OK see it now.

Also found out Conky cannot render fast enough for a flash effect. Not on this machine anyway.

How do profiles work then? Are they just a 'one off' as there seems no mechanism to change them easily.

OK, apart from altering 'left' profile script direct, what sets the widgets on left then ?

Does the user have no choice, other than a 'hack' ?

you make make a widgets tree on the left (prefs) and save a profile for that
you make another one for the right, then go to cluster plugin and click both of hem. If you wanna change the left widget tree, simply make a new profile for it again (yes, it can't be set "live")

Ah see now. Big disadvantage of course if you open pwidgets gui and press refresh, you revert back to your own profile. Confused

So from that I assume only one instance of Conky is running then?

Maybe Zigbert, time for a rethink of pwidgets for further expansion???

Trio, remember i said about a binary being created, well here's the line that does it.

echo `/usr/local/bin/sensors` > $HOME/.pwidgets/tmp/hot

sensors is a binary which usually echoes to screen, however following their instructions i echoed it to a tmp file, which is displayed as binary in Rox, it will also not be read in any editor.

The script compiler I downloaded was for security. It creates a binary file, which can be date expiry set. It doesn't offer any speed or size advantage, just the ability to hide your script code.

Thanks for the quick font-reply Smile

Thanks for the birthday-reply Very Happy
I had of course something else in mind (humans tends to think different) Very Happy I'm thinking more of a database with all birthdays, and then a pop-up the day before the unique day........hope you're still interested Very Happy

Rob

If you have a better solution than the cluster plugin - just great. My point was to keep the multiple configs 'throught' fixwidgets. Like this you set your widgets, and it works as expected at next boot. I don't think an average user fools around with new widgets at every sunrise. Smile

Font. I'll wait a week or so and release Pdingobats-1.0. If there is no more input I'll just add what I think.... so I am open to ideas for the next seven days. Get your thinking caps on boys... I may bump this issue just to keep it fresh for guys who aren't so regular (or who have lives Laughing Laughing Laughing , such as MHHP and puppylvr)

BirthdayReminder. I'm thinking to use Rob's color change idea as a reminder OR, can we change the gui color in a popup? If so how? (<bgcolor=E85555> bla bla </bg>)? Please be patient with me on this one Cool

Cheers

Mick

Mick,

How about altering config on the fly to "own_window_transparent no" with the default hotpink it looks quite good Laughing

Zigbert,

I was just curious how the dual widgets worked. Originally when i did this I used two Conkys but didn't alter fixwidgets to refresh just one.
I've even forgotten what did Shocked

I've seen multiple Conkys on screen at once. Right, left, top and bottom.
Even down to a single line across in mini font , although we don't have luxury of direct placement as Conky does.

I'm just working on a new all in one weather widget, only one internet call needed to return weather, windspeed and direction, sunrise, sunset, humidity, pressure etc.
Unfortunately they've dropped moon phase just recently. Sad
