Italian Puplet which can run on 119MB Ram laptop

#1 Post by nwbuntu »

Hi there!

I am new to Linux and Puppy and I can say that all stuff seems very, very good!

I would like to install Puppy or a Puplet on an old laptop for an Italian friend who
-doesn't know anything about computers and
-doesn't know any English.

So I am looking for an Italian Puppy derivate which can run on an Acer Travelmate with only
119MB RAM and 9.4GB hard disk.

Searching around the Puppy websites and the forum I found so far:

-Linux Ogigia Zeronove (http://ogigia.altervista.org/index.php? ... 1197056327)
but it needs 128 mb Ram.

-Ferrari_Reply_1.0_ita (http://www.puppylinux.org/downloads/pup ... reply10ita)
impossible to download ...file isn't there anymore.

I am not sure if it is really in Italian which is quite important:
-EduPup 2.0 Beta
(http://www.giovelug.org/index.php?lng=i ... 1162827780
http://www.pieroni.biz/edupup
http://www.giovelug.org
http://puppylinux.ca/tpp/edupup/ )

my download fails (I have a slow Internet connection and when it is interrupted the download doesn't succeed.
I tried with flashget as well but the url doesn't seem to work.

I hope someone can give me a hand!

Thanks in advance!

I am sorry, that link above will not work for a while...I have gone over my bandwidth (and this has also took all of my websites down!!!). I must find a new host. Many of my links I think were from Italy so a lot of the bandwidth must have gone there. Never mind this is what its for.

To make sure downloading is OK, use wget in console

Code: Select all

wget -c download.URL
You can right-click to copy the URL then paste it on the console with SHIFT-INSERT.

In puppylinux.ca or .asia and puppyisos.org, you supply username and password

Code: Select all

wget -c --user puppy --password linux download.URL
