Macpup Foxy E17
Macpup Foxy E17
This is the new thread for Macpup Foxy E17.
Macpup Foxy E17 is built on puppy linux 4.1.2 (2.6.25.16).
This pup has all the apps from 4.1.2 plus Firefox 2 ,Gimp , Vlc & Xvidcap. It also has Dbus 1.2.4 compiled from source. The Enlightenment E17 version (.050) is the latest version to date and was also compiled from source.Works with Xorg and Xvesa . Every new theme and background I have tried with it has worked. I have also included 6 new themes and 9 backgrounds including the first ever puppy E17 background , " puppy vegas", by CatDude. A word of caution with the Bg Layered Sky background, Its a cpu hog.I recommend only running it on one desktop for a short time.It is impressive.
The shutdown/reboot buttons in the E17 menu don't work with puppy linux so I have added the macpup exit menu to allow you to shutdown/restart from with in E17. Just click on the exit icon on the desktop. Click on the " ! "icon to check ram .And use the Top hat to set up internet connections.Application Menus update by themselves.
You can still have a different background on each desktop. But now you can configure the shelves on each desktop differently. So you could have the first one set up like a macpup. The second like KDE. The third like Gnome, Ect.I have things set up like that by default. On the first desktop the changer is in the bottom right, on the rest it is in the top right.
A BIG Thank you to Barry,Ttuuxxx,Mu,Puppyluvr & Prit1 !
A BIGGER Thank you to CatDude who help solve some major problems I had building this puppy. You can read about that here :

And you can get Macpup Foxy E17 here :

good work!
I always was too lazy to mess around with the compilation of E17, so newyearspup still uses an older version.
I will try in the next weeks, to replace it with your version
Thanks for sharing that great puplet!
I also like, that you added other important programs like firefox, gimp, vlc.
I'll bet, this will find many fascinated users

there is an older .sfs of E17 :

That is the one MU is talking about. Macpup E17 and the Buddapup's use it as well but it cant run the newer themes and backgrounds. You will need to add some extra libs for it to work.
I don't plain on making a .sfs of The new version .I compiled it for this pup.

Oh yes..
As usual, you and the MacPup team seem to have produced another beautiful yet functional piece of work here, runtt21.
Thank you, obviously much effort was put into this, so i'm looking forward to giving the foxy one a run and probably a frugal home on either the laptop or a USB flash drive .
You guys are racking up quite a litter of good-lookin' puplets now, aren't you?

Very good work! I'm almost speechless!
I what this on my AA1! What about a stripped version for Acer Aspire One and EEPC? Only with the drivers needed for netbooks?

A few days ago I found a Tux avatar dressed as a wizard so I built a animated background with it.Check out the Wizard Tux as he appears and disappears around Hobbiton in LOTR01.edj on my page at macpup.org

I have updated the init splash screens and made a second LOTR baclground with more LOTR Tux caricatures .
To install stuff open rox, click on the eye in the tool bar to see hidden files. Then go to .e/e/ .The start up stuff goes in .e/e/init .Backgrounds go in .e/e/backgrounds. The Megan-fox.edj and the test2.edj go in .e/e/themes

I made a new video showing some of the customized backgrounds and themes.
