Hmmm ...

I'm feeling a little better today and I thought I'll post whatever has been done so far with the hope that it will be usefull to someone ... Please look at the main Eye-Candy subforum for the thread.

@`foo
You're absolutely right ...

@disciple & panzerpuppy
No promises but I'll see if it's possible to get resizing from the top border again. Horizontal gradient can be done but needs a bit more coding than you'd imagine ... the current vertical gradient colors is done manually in JWM ...

@Leon
JWM was hardcoded to do certain stuffs to be that mean lean WM.

I'm sorry but I didn't start moving ahead just to make a full reverse later on. Blame it on my nearsightedness. FWIW, please take a look at the JWM enhancement thread for a standard bugfixed version. A little extra tweak included too since it makes sense to have it ...

It's possible to have the window title centered. No promises though ...

Anyway, I do appreciate your feedback and your concern ... Thank you.

@ttuuxxx
Internally JWM doesn't care about icon sizes. Whatever icon sizes you threw at it will be resized to fit the target menu/button height/width. Resizing quality is at the mercy of X render library ....

The program submenus have hardcoded height if I'm not mistaken (can't remember off hand) to fit 16pix icons. Only the main root menu have adjustable heights.

If icons are displayed with blurred edges then its probably due to artifacts scattered around the icons like antialiasing residue, alpha channel or something (after a resizing). I've tested a 256pix icon being resized correctly to the menu bar. It looks cleaner if I resized it manually and cleaned up the edges/artifacts ... Also it seems cleaner if the desktop supports alpha channel (24/32bit depth?) ...

No, you specify the height for them and if it's 0 it resizes to fit the icon (I've been using 22x22 and 24x24 for ages with it).

Hmmm ....

Just made quick check and yep, you're right ... the submenu height can be adjusted too ... thanks for pointing that one out ... Haha ... now I can really modify the menus and make more submenus ...

Later I'll need to make further checks on what the icon sizes will be given a particular height ...

Hmmm ...

Hey there 01micko,

Right, I will need to update my Q&A for this later ... Anyways, could you kindly go to the JWM enhancement thread please, so that everyone may also benefit from the answer I've made to your query ?

Blue JWM theme

#206 Post by dejan555 »

I've finally made my blue JWM theme, I wanted to do this for a long time, but this time the colors matched perfectly! :) Here's the screenshot of how does it look like with Patriot's enhanced JWM:

Looks also good with the standard JWM version, maybe even better! ;)

Thanks, renamed package to jwm_calmblue so the petget manager doesn't say that 'jwm' is already installed! LOL :)

It's not gonna be me who's gonna make it panzerpuppy :) Maybe try the blue theme from my previous post? Never liked the very shiny blue windows theme, it's just not comfortable to look at! I reworked DeepThought theme a bit, this is my new version:

Ok This is for testers, I'm not sure sure how well this works, I hacked the JWM source code and came up with this new menu, It doesn't use icons in the menu only, but it does look slick. Everything else is the same, basically if you install this pet, it will replace your current JWM. With this verson, then you'll have to restart X server to see the changes.

Ps just added the sources below.

:D Patriot,
Very Nice...Love the transparency and rounded borders..
I especially like what it does for the tray....
Image

@1 point..The pet put the binary in /usr/X11R7/bin....
I moved it to /usr/local/bin and it worked fine...
Also, If you use translucency, don`t use "move=opaque" ...
Drags my 1.8 g 768mb machine to a crawl when I move them..
Looks really cool though... :D
Resize=opaque seems OK ....

Now, how do we get rounded corners on the menu??
LOL, you started something here....

@magerlab,
Any particular color scheme??

for me size matters more :D
maybe it's possible to have something like prelude theme for xfwm4
http://www.xfce-look.org/content/show.p ... tent=69300
although it's extreme thin :D
and fonts in menu and panel ...
as for colors ; light blue or black to match black icons

how do i change jwm menu button in 4.2?
I've found /root/.jwm/start-button.png, renamed it then linked mine to start-button.png and restarted x but it didn't change?
Or I have to reboot the whole system?

I asked that on the icon thread, too, dejan555...great minds think alike and all that...hopefully one of the puppy nobility knows the answer to that one... 8)

to change that you need to edit 2 locations

/root/.jwmrc-tray
<TrayButton icon="/usr/local/lib/X11/pixmaps/start-button.png">root:3</TrayButton>

/root/.jwmrc
<RootMenu label="Menu" labeled="false" height="24" onroot="3">

if you don't want it to say 'Menu' and you just want to display a image delete label="Menu"
so it looks like this

<RootMenu labeled="false" height="24" onroot="3">

Hope that helps

Yep, that worked thanks!
Another one, I know it's kinda offtopic but if anyone would know how to set amsn to show tray icon so it can be minimized in jwm? :idea:
