abiword 266 ok?

#221 Post by jabu2 »

RC4
Test results on
Fujitsu lifebook s2200 intel r centrino 1.5 Ghz 1 G ram
live-CD frugal

my abiword 266 does not crash when inserting symbol fonts
have tried with about 6 fonts and many symbols, from the pull down list
All seem to work perfectly - correct symbols inserted, (either by clicking on large size symbol shown in dialog or by pressing insert button, then close button) and no crashes

I do (as posted before when testing rc3) have pwidgets turned all off, and using standard beach wallpaper. Have not fiddled with any bling-type stuff, but have moved icons around to suit on desktop.
also running Kompozer and Firefox (previously petted) so far with no problems

rc4 working well otherwise, with wireless connection. rc4 loads in under 1min (enter to reduce the 8 sec wait)

I have no idea why my abiword works, but it does.

Is nicish though..... :)
Well micko we have 2 days until WhoDo does the final, so lets test this puppy out and then we'll leave it up to WhoDo to make his call, looks like a keeper to me, When joe makes something usually its really stable. When I tried compiling Patriots version yesterday, I had a few missing dependencies when I compiled Joe's version today it went perfect, and needed nothing. I just wanted to hack in 24x24 icons, but I haven't figured that one out yet. Soon so very soon, lol

Tell you the truth trio and micko I like this version a lot:) Hope it runs smooth, would be nice to have it included. But we need to test it a lot, I'll use if for now on, until the final, and report any errors if any. Then its WhoDo's call.

ya I would rather wait another month and have rc25 lol
the longer we spend on this release the better/stable it will get.
If I had 3 days I could shoot in the latest Seamonkey so we don't get that update splash screen. lol

There was a complain about the flash in rc4. To play the tmp-file in gxine, simply drag it from rox to the gxine icon on desktop.

I just want to state that for the first time EVER, I am able (with Puppy 4.2 rc4) to watch tv from the norwegian television NRK. :D

Thanks
Sigmund

That cool, I also enjoy watching Canadian News and hockey on the net also. Don't hear much about back home in Australia.

The "insert symbol" or <Ctrl>+<M> command puffs away Abiword here too.

Then tried typing in AbiWord with the Times font (RC4 with pfix=ram)... Surprise, no-go with this font, as well as Standard Symbols, Lucida Typewriter, Helvetica, Fixed, Dingbats and Courier! Always worked with all previous Abiword versions. Not a pleasant show, does that happen only to me?

Hmmm ...

Finally, Joe has got wind of us !

:)

I've taken a peek at joe's svn sources. I'm pleased to see that Joe patched-in most of my codes/changes. It's an acknowledgement of sorts ... as I'm pretty lame with C ... ;-)

He has cleaned up the code a bit too ... and made life easier for me ...
ttuuxxx wrote: I wish they would hack in hackedbox's windows decoractions, they had a more 3d look and were animated somewhat, still without images, just using code, but it did give a better feel to the _-x buttons.
Yep, the window border buttons were mine (it is the standard built-in in JWM enhanced since alpha-1) ... ;-)

I'd like to have full bitmap support for the window buttons too ... well, time's a luxury for me now ... but replaceable bitmasks is better than none. Joe has the codes implemented but not in-use though.

The so-called missing dependencies is due to the configure script. This no longer will be an issue once I patch it with Joe's ... (makes life easier haa ...)

@Everyone

I'd like to clarify one thing. Between JWM stable and JWM enhanced, there's no architectural differences. While I do have a high degree of confidence that the enhancement portion is stable, I'd like to see it reasonably bug-free.

Only the enhancement codes plus bugfixes makes 'em different. As is with any new codes, it needs some time to mature so we can see if something breaks due to this. So, for me, it'll stay beta for quite a while ...

No, capoverde. This is a known bug in Pango which Abiword 2.6.6 uses (I guess more extensively than the previous version). Even Debian have reported the fault, first to Abiword then to the Pango team.

so far I've compiled
pango-1.18.2
pango-1.18.3
pango-1.18.4
with all the same effect
then I tried the latest version pango-1.24.0 and that had compiling errors
next i'm trying pango-1.22.4, might as well keep trying since I'll have to reboot clean/erase my pupsave again to keep the compiler clean.
