This one sets a new world record - jaw-dropping 43 bytes and it still looks awesome!

You can't go lower than this without compromising the aesthetics (I can cut it down to 35 bytes, but then it looks downright ugly)

Put this midget in 'usr/share/backgrounds' and STRETCH it :)
Man, how fun...only Puppians would come up with wallpapers like this...but you can't argue with those results...well done!

Ok, trying to be like you guys... 8)

...now I'm trippin' over the weird color combo's you can get from just using this little small-pic-and-stretch-it idea...

Indeed, I think this is the only forum where people come up with ideas like this. :D

hi guys here's 3 of them all related, but the large one 1.png 174kb has a little amazing trick to it, run icewm, and min the wallpaper setter, then open something you would like as a bottom layer like a webpage etc, no raise the wall paper setter from the taskbar and set 1.png, what happens is the webpage behind gets trapped in the switching of the wallpaper and they blend together. Its been like that all day on my pc, maybe it will work with others.
the other 2 images are the same but the effects are different due to the way png/gif compress images, png was smooth, and gif was blocks :)

Wouldn't presume to give advice, especially if you are more skilled at gimp than I am, but here goes: open it up, pan in (view 4:1), then move the cursor next to whatever spot, type "o" and select the color of the spot right next to it, then type "a" for the airbrush (you might check the airbrush settings, but you should be good) then spray right over that spot to match the surroundings...

I'm trying to get better at the keyboard shortcuts as it speeds up time with gimp exponentially... 8)

It's only 34K jpg, but gradients aren't very good on that one, I can upload higher res png if anyone wants, but it's around 500KB! Click to download^

Or, here's a wallpaper with non-gradiented background color, it's 33K, but looks good on desktop!
