mike

I installed 6.0.9 from there:
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=31007&sid=4705cf40664ff68faae047c574161852

I now get another message Twisted Evil
Code:
avidemux2_gtk: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.6: cannot handle TLS data

if i try to launch geany, same message.
the file i currently have is 6.0.5 (now i remember having the same message cannot handle TLS data when trying to install FF3, reason why i gave up)
my experience with /lib/ is that's it's DANGEROUS to change files there. What can I do? would it be better if i try an earlier version of avidemux?

EDIT: i'm not alone Smile http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=31007&sid=4705cf40664ff68faae047c574161852

this particular library brings a lot of problems. But, is it because i try programs that were already compiled? I would be better off compiling avidemux myself?

Try these ones, They have never let me down yet Smile

sorry ttuuxxx; they let me down. (i couldn't actually restart X Smile)

what i will do is take from Puppy4 (ibiblio pets) glibc and gtk+, and do as MU advises me.

Before i do that could somebody explain what is this "2.4 system" that Mu refers to aswell ? I got this error when trying to install subtitle editor :
Quote:
checking for GTKMM... configure: error: Package requirements (gtkmm-2.4 >= 2.12) were not met:

Requested 'gtkmm-2.4 >= 2.12' but version of gtkmm is 2.8.8

2.4 isn't a version?
I downloaded gtkmm of Puppy4 (which is 2.12.1) and merged it to /usr/lib, still got the same problem. I noticed that i had basically the same filenames already but ending with .a and .la, the new files being .so

Embarassed I'm getting desperate; perhaps there's a good website where i can learn how to handle/update Linux libraries.
Why are libraries such a pain ? Puppy2.16 is only about one year old.

Sad Sad
Ok I will install Puppy4. It's a terrible waste of time, I spent so much time installing everything I needed.

The package avidemux2_gtk-24.0.pet seems to have a bug...ie crashes when opening audio>track menu (needed for handling videos with multiple sound tracks) .
Not sure if this is an avidemux bug, the compilation or (lol) gtk2.

not sure where I downloaded it from either ...seems to be some confusion over that

Everything else (so far) is working fine,

regards

fine

Nope...tried debian avidemux 2.4.3......got exactly the same crash...looks like a crappy gtk2 bug (again)...leaves oodles of options to fix that one lol...

mike

edit...wrong there is an option...qt...I can see why there is a migration over to it..

edit 2 ...yep that fixed it qt4 version stable....now wonder if that would work for browsers....... Very Happy

I think it would be very good to get this going as a .pet. and thanks to plinej for doing the work to compile this needed app.

If you need to run Avidemux in a hurry for some work, and don't mind a puplet, I have one with it on Mediapup. However, that's pretty big at about 300 Mb, and it would be great to just be able to install the app alone. I'd use it myself

I took it to the next step and compiled the latest with almost all the features, 19 kinds of video and 11 kinds of audio, its around double the size of this one because it supports a lot formats.
well I read you guys wanted another version so, I spent a few hours, more like 5 or 6 and made this one Smile
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=39556
hope you like it guys Smile Now I'm goingto give VLC 9+ another shot Smile Since i have a 1/3 of the packages already installed because of compiling Avidemux

Old thread but I thought I would mention I did get a working 2.4.4 version in the end as I have it here and running but I don't remember where from...perhaps here, Been using it for years Smile (2.5 had some odd extra features I never would use but either are good.)

Subject description: Appearance Qt.

version Windows d'Avidemux installed in my computer
La version 2.5.2 Lucid is te safest for Puppy, in my opinion
Racy : avidemux2_gtk opens after installing directfb and SDL see above
Sulu : replace installed version with Avidemux 2.5.5 lucid (pet) and modified audio parameters in stereo & Alsa.

Other version Avidemux 2.4.4b from Avidemux 2.4.4 and videoconvertaudio

Mu 3oct2010 "If you get errors about missing libraries during installation, please ignore them. The libraries are included, PetGet just does not see them due to the way they are included lateron.
I also attach a small utility I wrote, it uses ffmeg to convert the Audio part of a Video to PCM.
Like this you can convert videos, where Avidemux has no Audiocodec for, like araw/uraw, that often is used by cheap foto-cameras.
