No it's not sufficient.
If people want to help you, they want to know if you use pupp 4.2rc2, or 4.1.2 or 3.02 etc..
They also want to know what you downloaded as packages.
OpenOffice 3.0 sfs or pet, others.....
What the installation type is. etc...
People who want to help, can't see inside your PC from a distance.

Depending on your file management skills a manual installation if fine and maybe better for a .pup file
foobar.pup is a package
pup. is an extension name for foobar. If named by the convention of the compression utility it would be .zip
foobar.pup is a zip package
if is renamed to foobar.zip that would the the native extension for a zip package
zip is likely smart enough to open it's own package without renaming meaning to say, think you could simply unzip foobar.pup
because .pup is package for other files after unzipping it you will find other files. likely a .tgz or tar.gz file containing the files you really want, plus some scripts.
If you have the basic file management skills, this should be the 'keys' you need to do a manual installation.
