Dell TrueMobile 1150 WPA Agere Systems

#1 Post by thom »

I am running 4.12 on a Dell Laptop with a Dell TrueMobile 1150. It has Agere on the back label.

It is recognized by the system but the current driver does not allow WPA security.

I have found drivers for the card that support WPA on a windows machine but not for Puppy.

Does anyone know of a driver that will support WPA on this card?

Thank you

With a certain amount of patching, the proprietary Agere Hermes driver will compile under the Puppy 4.1.x kernel.
But before going to that trouble, it would be a whole lot easier just to try the "hostap_cs" driver in preference to the "orinoco_cs" driver. hostap_cs is WPA compatible.

Go to Menu > System > BootManager configure bootup > Give preference to one module over another
and add this line

Code: Select all

orinoco_cs:hostap_cs
Then reboot.
