Well I've been working on Puppy 4.2 for the past few months. Now its come to the point that I only have a small role left. A good portion of 4.2 update over 4.12 was contributed by myself. I know how it ticks one might say. Now it leads me back to the next Living Water release.
The first order of things to be done, is to make 4.2 even more stable and faster than the current model. Basically building a dependable responsive base model first.
4.2 has some outstanding new features that need to removed. But they don't want to listen to my suggestions so be it! The following list are things that will be removed.
-Fimenus script will be removed-The new fixmenu script takes around 3 times min to use. Why does it take so long? well because we have a new icon theme switch that changes the menu icons and the taskbar icons on JWM, plus its used with Pwidgets.
-JWM will be removed and IceWM will be the only window manager.
-Pwidgets will be removed, It sluggish, The desktop icons disappear when you move a open window over the icons, Its just pushing conky over the top.
-Pmedia will be removed Pmedia does not shutdown after you close it and continues running, it consumes too much system constant resources. Alsa Player will replace Pmedia 100% plus it has more features.
-PBurn and its very large dependencies will be removed
Xfburn will be included, It uses a different backend to Pburn, its not as fully equipt as Pburn, This will have to be looked at.
Next I would like some help with application Ideas, For this Project to work properly I need a few dedicated go getters:) In the past I've asked for new church related tv streams for ttuuxxxTV, Well I asked about 5 different times and only had 1 response, last time when I made ttuuxxxTv it took me a few days to sort out a nice rounded amount, it was minimal but still I received lots of great emails how people loved it so much. I could do this release solely on my own, but it will take a lot more time and plus I don't know everybody's wants and needs?
Keep in mind that this whole release could take a month or 2 before the final is released, But we have to start somewhere
After the first final 'Living Water' release is made, Then will be the next task of a somewhat larger release, basically giving the first one a bit of bloat. After that release if people want a version as 'Church Pup' I could strip out some LIving water backgrounds,icons, make a new Icewm theme add open office, maybe a few more programs and we could call it 'ChurchPup4.2' Thats up to you guys to decide. But I did make a promise to bring out a new Living Water when 4.2 is done and well the time is now.Thanks for your time
