Game [Solved]

#1 Post by Anniekin »

Hi,

I need just 1 good game on my puppy to play during breaks in between work.

Warcraft III installs under wine but can't find directX even after winetr*@#ks.

I got a Wesnoth .pet from this forum and all the dependency librarys listed in the tread but still says libs are missing and won't start.

As you can see I prefer a modern chess version i.e. strategy game or RTS for my stress relief.

I got FreeCiv already I really don't think it's for me.

Please help.

How about Starcraft? I've always liked it. Lots of people like Command and Conquer and Red Alert but I've never really enjoyed it. Maybe, Ages of Empire might peak your interest as well.

I know you're a RTS fan but I personally like Diablo 2. I was addicted for 2 years a while back. But anyways, good luck!

exP,

Thanks for your response.

Your suggestions sound temping, but my problem is, how do install these?

Warcraft III, WC3 demo version, and Warcraft II installed under Wine 1.1.4 but failed to run for the reasons mentioned above.

Really funny that you should reply after all this time...

I have since gotten Warcraft 3 and WoW to work, but on PCLOS, having since moved on to puppy.

The thing is, I checked out puppy 4.2 on my Acer Aspire One, and was struck by the ocean beach wallpaper background, having relocated to Hawaii this year.

When I got puppy 4.1 and tried Linux for the first time, I was living in Reno, if you recall the background is snow covered mountains, much like the Sierras.

That you should write to this thread and I should receive a topic notification, after having been keeping puppy as a rescue CD, I just reinstalled puppy three days ago as a backup system!

I missed Geany most of all, having installed it on PCLOS and also Mandriva and Xubuntu, and found that it is too bloated on these systems and takes too long to start up.

I am now tinkering with a Gentoo install, perhaps I could contribute to the puppy project, if you teach me how to hack this stuff some more.

I am having some issues with system instability which I attribute to file system errors and am posting to another thread.

Wow, with all those coincidences I should think someone was really trying to get across Puppy's certainly the one for you :D

Glad to hear you want to learn and help out with Puppy, helping and learning in Puppy go marvelously well together. I'm afraid I can't help you much in hacking Puppy, maybe some one else will answer and give you a good lead.

BTW, Nice as website, it's really slick and cool ;)
