Macromedia Flash player not working Puppy 1.0.6

#1 Post by paullecorde »

I am using Firefox 1.0.7 and the flash player does not work. I have tried downloading and installing the tar.gz from the Macromedia site. When I try to run the extracted installer, I get the message ERROR: Your glibc library is older than 2.2. Please update your glibc library. Can someone tell me what this means and how to update that library or another way to install flash player? Thank you for you suggestions!

There is already a flashplayer:
/usr/lib/mozilla-1.8b1.5/plugins/liblashplayer.so

It should work to create a symbolic link to the apropriate firefox-folder.

Search for firefox/plugins in ROX, then in a comandline type:
ln -s /usr/lib/mozilla-1.8b1.5/plugins/libflashplayer.so XXX/firefox/plugins/libflashplayer.so

XXX is the folder where you found firefox.

I think sometime back we discovered that a lot of flash sites have no sound or a number of errors. Maybe the peeps at macromedia will find in their hearts to upgrade their linux plugin ?
Take it easy.
Heaven is on the way, until then let's get the truth out!
