Subject description: puppy dingo 4.1.2

Since I installed (frugal) puppy Dingo 4.1.2, with a pup_save file of 768m, every time I reboot the pc, remaining file size is decreased by 9m, without adding any new application during my session.

Any explanation ?

Claude

There are several possible culprits. One is your browser's cache which can keep growing like Topsy. Another is "deleted" e-mail messages, which are not really deleted until you do something just before you shut down (I forget what because I use Yahoo e-mail. Smile ) so the partially deleted emails keep building up in a hidden folder. Apparently all e-mail clients are designed like this. I don't know why. Confused

I think wrt emails Flash is saying you might need to "compact" your mail folders. That is unlikely to be the problem unless you get a lot of huge attachments though.
Are you printing a lot? Apart from browser cache, I think the most likely cause is printing Shocked
I noticed my /var/spool/cups fills up for some reason, but I forgot to report it.

Hi Claude,
Am a newbie to Puppy but I was able to restore my backup usage indicator by going to:
Email/File/Compact folder.

Hope that is what you were looking for.
Edit:
Using 4.1.2 with seamonkey.

I flush the Email trash and Browser caching at the end of every session. I do not print a lot: so my printer spool is almost empty all the time.

To JohnJs, I compacted my email file folders: I gained about 27M.

But I had a look at /var/spool/cups/tmp and I flush the content of tmp: my rootfs increased from 95M to 285M. The tmp directory should have been there a long time ago because, like I said before, I don't print very much from this PC.

Thank you very much for all the hints.

Best regards.

Claude
