Suggestion: A MAME inspired puplet
Suggestion: A MAME inspired puplet
I really want to use my old laptop with Puppy and MAME so I can make a cheap and cheerful gaming coffee table thingy. I have tried to install mame in Puppy but I am having no luck finding it anywhere or getting it to work. I think a mame version would be great, plus it could have alot of Linux games on it too.
hey, i got mame as part of a tcltkgame file i downloaded from
http://tkgames.sourceforge.net/
it runs okay but i have no idea what it does [well, some idea] and found your post while trying to find a use for it . . .
so you can return the favor by telling me all the wonderful things i can do with mame?
[can i somehow play shenmue on puppy? i didn't think so . . . ][/url]

Without rom files MAME is pretty useless.
There are however thousands of game roms floating around in the ether
Although most of them are abandonware, I don't know of any GPL'd ones.
So... although it is possible to make a MAME puplet, there is not much to be gained over just a MAME pet package due to copyrights.
