Hey ttuuxxx, do you have any idea when the new living waters will be up? I was telling a fellow on another forum about it but when he tried to download the old version the link was dead. Thanks.

Hi,

I tracked down the problem with the links for living waters. I did tell Ttuuxx about it but I guess he has not had time to change his links yet.

He is missing a folder section /tpp/ in the web address.

Here is the correct site;

http://www.puppylinux.ca/tpp/ttuuxxx/livingwater/
Netbook; Compaq cq10 with Quirky008,Ubuntu 9.10,W7

Hi as soon as 4.2 puppy linux is stable, I'll be building a new release, My main focus at the moment is to have a stable base, Plus i've been building newer packages for it in the background, so it shouldn't be long, Thanks tom4jesus for providing the correct link, Sometimes my files get moved and links get broken. I'll have to updated soon.

Hi ttuuxxx,

I'm looking forward to your new release based on 4.2.

Please consider including both Bibletime and Bible-desktop in your new release. I find that they complement each other very well since both have strengths.

Meanwhile, please make a .pet of the latest Bible-desktop http://www.crosswire.org/bibledesktop/download.html. The current version is 1.6 and the only available .pet is version 1.08. I have been unsuccessful with my tries at creating a .pet.

Thanks,
Jim

Hi Jim

Thanks for the response
I'm sorry but I don't make pets for bible related resources. That way I try to keep the interest related to "Living Water" and "ChurchPup". It makes the 2 releases a larger resource and doesn't become part of the norm. That way we keep united under 2 threads. Also Bibletime and Bible-desktop well one is Kde and one is java, wow thats a tall order, I'm planning on building a Bibletime release with other kde extras, I could have 2 versions a small version and a large version with java, but what benefits does Bible-desktop have over Bibletime? I usually hear it the other way that Bibletime is way better than Bible-desktop. Bible-desktop will add about 40MB+ including the latest Java, so I would have to justify the extra somehow.
Thanks Once again

Hi ttuuxxx,

I agree that Bibletime is preferable to Bible-Desktop if you can have only one.

Presently, I have both running on the new 4.2alpha3 that you are working so faithfully on, and Mark's New Years pup. I find that I use Bibletime much more often, however, Bible-Desktop is stronger on some features. For example, Bible-Desktop allows you to easily access the Crosswire Beta and Bible.org sites to keep up with the latest releases and it gives you a comprehensive description of the available resources. These features are not available in Bibletime.

With the 4.2alpha3 pup, I just have the essential KDE3510 elements included, however with New Years pup I still have to use the whole KDE3510 suite although the Bible programs both work perfectly on both distributions. Versions are Bibletime 1.6.5 and Bible-Desktop 1.0.8

EDIT: I discovered that all I needed to do is download and unzip Bibledesktop-latest-bin.tar.gz into a directory. Then make the included Bibledesktop.sh executable and the latest version 1.6 works perfectly.

I believe that it's well worth the additional 40MB+ especially today since the resources even on low end computers are huge compared to what used to be available.

Thank you for all the hard work and countless hours that you are doing for the benefit of our puppy community.

Jim

Just a note to Ttuuxxx -- you probably will have seen my post on the ChurchPup/Concordia page, but for some reason i am getting NO notifications of posts -- and i've been too busy to notice! (Umm -- "vacation" - what is THAT??? :?

Anyway, just being back on the forum for the first time in almost three months feels GOOD. ChurchPup is heading for the front burner. Thanks for the consistent encouragement.

Great! Good ol' Debian. Woof is way above my abilities -- but from what i understand it should free you up considerably from the constraints of Puppy -- ??
