The spellchecker seems to be working fine in 3.0 without this fix.

I have made this sfs on Puppy 3.01 (2.6.21.17 kernel), maybe this can give problems in newer kernel puppies, I'll check soon and maybe I'll make another version on a newer kernel puppy

P.S.

check also md5sum of file downloaded. must be:
Code:
md5sum OpenOffice_3.01.sfs.zip

OpenOffice_3.01.sfs.zip

226a61644024a1062b2d81e9ae5bc241

if checksum matches, then I must create a new sfs in latest kernel puppy

Thanks Dingo.

Starting with Dingo's OpenOffice_3.01.sfs I made two changes to produce OpenOffice_au-301.sfs:
1) It contains the Australian-English dictionary as well as the standard English dictionary, but no other dictionaries.
2) It doesn't put any icons on the desktop, (doesn't contain a PuppyPin file). It adds six rox-apps into /root/my-roxapps instead.

OpenOffice_au-301.sfs is 148M in size, much too big for my personal web space on my ISP.
If anyone is interested in using this file, please reply here and I will investigate a site to host it.

Thanks to Gyro & Dingo

This Open office-au.sfs sounds good.

How or where is it available please?

In response to a request from Dingo, I just placed the current version of "OpenOffice_au-301.sfs" on "filefront".

Unfortunately due to the time delay since my previous post, I had assumed that I was producing this ".sfs" purely for my own use. So in the mean time I have changed it. It no longer places apps in "/root/my-roxapps", but places desktop icon config files in "/root/Desktop", suitable for my "onDesktop" package.

Edit: Deleted URL, new version, see post below.

I've produced a new version of "OpenOffice_au-301.sfs".
I've resurrected the apps in "/root/my-roxapps".
I've also added support for 4.2's concept of symlinks in "/root/my-applications/bin".

When I've managed to upload this version, I will post the URL here. (Hope I can get it right this time.)

I generated this sfs file on 4.1.2 and tested it on "test" 4.2.1.

Hi,

Well it's now uploaded to filefront.
"OpenOffice_au-301.sfs": http://files.filefront.com/13697108
"OpenOffice_au-301.sfs.md5.txt": http://files.filefront.com/13696697

I've just uploaded new files and edited the URL's above.

The only change is to expose "printeradmin" as an icon in all places, and add "Math" to the "Document" menu.

Hello,

I am using Puppy 4.21 with kernel 2.6.25.16. Since the SFS file for OO 3.1 "fails to mount / unmount" on my system, I downloaded the SFS to version 3.01 from the link in the first post of this topic. I thought that if the SFS file is in /mnt/home, the program should install on startup. This does not happen; the SFS is not even mounted. I have to click on it, it mounts perfectly. I then have to fish for the "swriter" etc files inside the "opt" subfolder, the programs run very well. But of course making any sort of shortcuts to them on the desktop is useless, because after a reboot the programs stop being visible, and I have to mount the file again etc.etc.

Is this behaviour normal? What should I do to "properly" install OO from this SFS?

Thanks in advance for any help; I really like the system!

I ran iinto the same problem with OO 3.1 in Fatdog 112.

Sure would like to discover the solution to the mount/unmount problem.

Moving it to the boot partition triggers the forever-troublesome Save_File bottleneck -- it runs out of space!

/sda2 is my boot disk and /sda3 where I try to save everything.

Sure would be nice to be able to keep big new SFS apps in /sda3 and link them from /sda2

WDYT?
