Does anyone have any interest in helping me to create a basic puplet which is identical to Barry's official 4.1.2 release, except that it includes nvidia drivers, ati drivers, and the smp kernel? I think it'd be really helpful for folks who want to install goodies such as SecondLife, and Google Earth, and compiz, and other graphics intensive stuff. I could pretty much do this myself, except that I don't have any access to an ATI video card.

yes, I can add the Ati driver, if you prepare the rest first.
This might become a bit tricky, as xorgwizard requires a fix, or it will not work not correct, once the driver is added.

OK... Danke, Mark.

I've just signed up for some cheap high volume web hosting, so I can have a place to post puppy files and such things. Give me a day or two to put together the iso with the smp kernel, the nvidia drivers, and the alsa sound fix which I have found I need when I recompile Puppy with a different kernel.

As far as the xorgwizard goes... I believe that what other folks, such as tombh, have used is something they called a "compiz wizard" which popped up each time after the xorgwizard did. You can see this if you download an iso of WNOP.

Tchüss, Mark

hey, pretty good your german!
Where did you learn it?
I know cfwizard, I once had created a patched version for Muppy.
I think of a similar version for ultrapup and your puplet.

Concerning hosting, no problem:

Why I spend so much time...
Because I love this system, and also to build up a reference for potential interesting jobs Smile

Wo habe ich es gelernt? Ich war ein Austauschschüler in West Berlin, in 1987. Ich bin mit einer deutscher Familie gewohnen - es war sehr gut für mich - ganz gut für Fremdsprache lernen.

Say, it looks like you have a great hosting company. Servage offers 5 terabytes of transfer for $7usd...? Wow. I thought I was doing great this morning when I signed up for 1.2 terabytes for $5usd a month. It looks like they cater to technically savvy folks too. That's good. I don't suppose they support tcl server side scripts, do they? I didn't see it listed there.

Allem zustimmen. Wenn mann Puppy lernen, er ist fortschrittlich.

I do not recommend servage.
The traffic-values are completely wrong.
Compared to the hoster where I was before, around 5 times less, so you just have around 1 TB. And this often is sucked by bots, so I must passwordprotect puppyisos.org.
My sites often get hacked, even if I disable write permissions.
I just keep it, because I host such masses of files.
For smaller amounts, you really should look for another one...

Zeit, bald zu schlafen hier...
Grüße, Mark

Hi guys!

Actually, I'd be very interested in getting such a puplet going. I've been following your conversation on _gg 's thread about a universal installer with ati and nvidia drivers, but I've got stuck after compiling the source code you talk about.

glassparrot, if you've got it all tidily compiled for 4.1.2 or 4.2 (same kernel, so it should run, right?), can you share it?

Thanks!

fgenius
