Nice desktop !!! :D

Can you confirm that the left tray (add icon) works. I haven't seen it in any screenshots, I wonder if it works for you and others..... I guess the 'add widget' (right tray) starts Pwidgets, since that is a much simpler integration.

So far so good. Works well! And very useful I might add! Pwidgets tray too.

Edit: One thing I might add. The rendering of Pwidgets is much faster with a .jpeg background than with a .png. I suppose this is understandable and really doesn't matter because we all know .jpeg files are lighter weight. Just thought I'd mention it.

good to see you merged my additions into the DeepThought theme. And i hope that the deepthought theme makes it into deepthought, but it's likely to end up in pupcore.

good to hear you upgraded stardust. that might be useful for an deepfreeze theme. All we would need would be a menu button to go with it.

Now another shot on my son's brand new laptop, not all 'deepthought-*' are installed.

The rox window on your screenshot shows the icon2desk function in combination with the stardust icons. Be aware that the Stardust icon-theme is not updated to match the standard required for the icon2desk function. Only DeepThought and JQ8flat-lite is built with the new icon-theme-standard.

I kind of figured something like that because many icons are missing. No matter though, just playing around.

hopefully the deepthought theme will make it into puppy 4.2.

but if it does not i do know one other place you could almost be guaranteed to have in go into.

i decided i would try to revive puppy 3.02, and tronkel and ttuuxxx seem to like my idea. and currently i'm now the coordinator of it. So i call a good amount of the shots, while i have tronkel and ttuuxxx giving me advice.

so if it does not make it into 4.2. all you need to do is rename it lassie or chihuahua, and it's very likely it might get in 3.02CE.

it's true, ask tronkel or ttuuxxx if you want. And i hope for the best for you and your theme Zigbert.

Holy $h!t and WOW, Jeff!!!

I just tested it and it works brilliantly!!!! It's in, IN, IN! Heck, 148kb of that is in the THEME!

AND ... it goes back to JWM at the single click of a button! Now if someone would edit the JWM menu files so you could quick click to start IceWM from JWM then our users would have the best of all worlds .... especially since Zigbert's Pwidgets stay live and active through the switch!! Yeehah!!!

Great job, ttuuxxx!

Remember that all I do for Puppy is freely available, but in respect of Puppy 4.2 - WhoDo should choose first. Else, I hope my contributions will be used when someone finds them good enough.

The DeepThought_jwm_tray package has been upgraded to version 0.4.
See main post.
This is a fix that is critical when using the latest Pwidgets addition: Photo slideshow widget.

Sigmund I think WhoDo wants your JWM+Themes as the main default windows manager and also add IceWm as a built in alternative, Because what you 've done to JWM is just totally excellent:) I just made it possible to have an extra for others to enjoy. Heck why not mess around with my theme and build a new taskbar and menu, Its only a couple of tiny images. :) You did a great job with JWM.

Deepthought gtk theme, icons, JWM mods, etc are all part of Puppy 4.2 "Deepthought" and will be the default settings. I have already built 2 pre-alphas based on that. Those also included Pwidgets installed at boot.

Puppy is all about choice, too. I have included ttuuxxx's brilliant minimalist IceWM 1.2.36 as an alternative because it is easily small enough to do that. On my reckoning about 95% of the community uses either one or the other wm, and this way they will ALL be happy for very little additional cost.

As promised, however, JWM will be the default. That's why I have asked for someone familiar with JWM to sort out its ability to switch to IceWM. ttuuxxx has IceWM switching seamlessly to JWM; I just need that to work both ways.

Cheers

Sigmund
I notice the icon in "DeepThought" for Abiword is the font icon, 'TT'. I have been using the "Darkfire" Abiword icon in with your "DeepThought" icons.
I coppied 'word48.png' from /usr/local/lib/X11/themes/Darkfire to /usr/local/lib/X11/themes/DeepThought, then reset the icon theme with 'Menu|Desktop|Desktop Icon Switcher.
I just thought it looked better. It fits in quite well.

Here is my curent desktop, all current `DeepThought' applied, with my idea for Abi icon, hacked clock and slideshow frame widgets. I'll add all those hacks to the Analog-clock `howto' and rename it, I'll do weather too.

BTW the pic in the slideshow is of the Australian Open 2007 when my wife went. Just coincidence it came up as I snapped the screenshot, suits the green clock and frame. :)

Ok here ya go again, this time jwm has a icewm button when you click the button it activates a tiny script that copies a defaultwm file, that has icewm-session on it, into etc then it just restarts x server. So it will automatically start icewm. There is no seamless option for jwm to restart another window manager like icewm does. But this works, just not as well as icewm does it. Oh well I'll keep looking
anyways heres a test model.

the only problem that it has would be when you switch from icewm>>jwm then when your in jwm and restart X server, it reverts back to icewm because its using the defaultwm from etc that was changed to fix this I might have to make 1 more script in icewm that copies a jwm defaultwm file to etc and then executes the seamless transition. hmmm that would work :) in theory, here I go again. lol who song that "Here I go again on my own" hmmm maybe whitesnake from the 80's?? song popped into my head while typing this, lol

I think that the MENU button should be re-labelled "Start". This is what new users will be expecting.
