Puppy Jukebox

#1 Post by darrelljon »

A friend of mine has an old Windows Me computer full of about 40Gb of mp3s and plans to copy them to an external hard disk (or usb stick) then install Windows XP. The ultimate objective is to plug this PC into his plasma TV and play his music through that.

I've tried explaining a live CD would be easier.

Has anybody ever remastered a Puppy Linux jukebox distro?
All it would need is Xvesa + jukebox software on startup possibly with some kind of automatic search. Some random visualisations would be nice too.

Hi darrelljon; I've suggested special purpose Puppies, A-V player, web browser (keosk), etc.
There's not much that's been done, though tuxxx has a Firefox Pup (don't know what's in it).
The simplist way is to just use the std. Puppy, way smaller (~100MB) & better than WinBlows.

Hi darrelljon
This is how to make one
First find and install Mplayer, There's a few packages in the Forum under software
next install Java http://www.puppylinux.asia/tpp/ttuuxxx/ ... 6.0_11.pet
then download http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/jaju ... -1.6.4.jar
right click on the installer and set the permissions
open a terminal in the directory housing jajuk and type in a command line
java -jar jajuk-java-installer-1.6.4.jar
that will start the installer
system link /usr/share/jajuk/jajuk to /root/Startup
reset pc and it should automtically start.

Thanks but that's not remastering a live CD so much as installing software.
