(Solved!) Puppy 4.1 and Intel536 modem Subject description: Puppy 4.1.2 solved problem
Hi!
I tried the latest version of Puppy (4.1) and I found some great improvement in hardware detection (my on-board audio now works fine), but I must say that the removal of modem autodetection on boot doesn't allow me to use my internal PCI modem, based on Intel 536 chip.
There's no problem using it on Puppy 4.0, since autodetection finds and configures it.
I tried then to manually probe from the modemconf menu. No modem found even if it should be on ttys02.
I added a line to modprobe.conf: "modprobe Intel536"
No result.
I tried writing manually wvdial.conf with the settings configured by Puppy 4.0.
No result.
I shall say also that even on Puppy 4.0 if I probe manually (even if the modem is already configured), the modem is not detected.
Any suggestion?
Thanks in advance and sorry for my english!

I just tried the latest version of Puppy Linux: 4.1.2 and I'm happy to say that the problem previously addressed is now solved.
Network manager now gives precise and precious advices to properly configure Intel536 modems by using bootmanager.
Following the simple steps there described I managed to make my modem work.
Many thanks to our "Benevolent Dictator" Barry and to everybody involved in the project!
