BobPup 0.3 "Kud"

#1 Post by J-Bob »

Well, It's finally released. BobPup 0.3 Kud.

Well the first thing you will notice, is that you need to click on the desktop to get xfwm and the other xfce programs to kick in. i have no idea why it does that. but i plan to build a temporary solution for this in 0.3R "Revisited"

this has devx preloaded and Koffice as well. It's got xfce 4.4.3, and even qemu and qemu. And FF3 as well.

And this sounds like it could quite big. Well... No! It's actually kind of small.

if you think 280MB is small that is  . Not the best for old machines. but a great alternative to windows xp and vista. It even has a vista-ish look.

but you will notice the crappy wallpaper when xfce kicks in, well that's a placeholder till 0.3R, for which i plan to add a custom wallpaper which will look much better.

possible support for the Puppy Distributed Repository system i'm creating should hopefully make it into 0.3R.

Download bobpup-03-kud-live.iso from:

http://puppyisos.org/isos/2008-07-to-12/

you can get the required credentials below
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=28930

hope you enjoy 0.3 :D .

(and yes, I like Kudryavka Noumi. she is a decent character)

P.S. The poll seems to have a problem.
i will be managing a bobpup site soon

good thinking, but it sepends on when it comes out. but it is looking less likely i'll be able to have time to do so. but i do have qt4 on bobpup, so i should be able to compile it.

Thanks Mark. And i have talked to Caneri, and he said that once everything is stable on the new mirror he would would be glad to let me have an account.

but for now, the latter might not be bad to try.

It does look like a peculiar puplet indeed. It does seem quite familiar though I must say.
I may have to see if I can find a copy of it or something like such to test, could be interesting to delve into, what I imagine is, a strange little puplet.

the archive.org pages only allow myself to upload, there a number of options like dropbox or google-drive (very fast) if you have a google account

Now I tried it on my own account. I will leave it there for a while.
