Well, I don't know if this exactly qualifies as "genius," but...

If I edit /usr/lib/seamonkey-1.1.13/searchplugins/google.src in Geany...

and change the top paragraph to look like this...

Code:
<search
   name="Clusty"
   description="Clusty Search"
   method="GET"
   action="http://www.clusty.com/search"
   # update="http://www.google.com/mozilla/google.src"
   updateCheckDays=1
   queryEncoding="utf-8"
   queryCharset="utf-8"
>

...and then close down Seamonkey and restart it...

...wuh-lawww, Clusty...

I already posted this elsewhere, but this seems a more appropriate thread:

Seamonkey will not let me compose+send in the new, improved Hotmail, unless I go into about:config and change

general.useragent.extra.Seamonkey

to read

Firefox/2.0 really Seamonkey/1.1.13

Wow, now that is the true Puppy-geek solution! Smile

CatDude sent me a GUI version as well -

Go to http://clusty.com
Click on Toolbar at the bottom
Install it
Click on EDIT-PREFERENCES-NAVIGATOR-INTERNET SEARCH then under "Default Search Engine" choose Clusty from the drop down list.

PostPosted: Tue 25 Nov 2008, 12:35    Post subject: Display Problem with Seamonkey 1.1.13

xorg insisted on forcing my Z500 laptop into 1440 resolution which is too small for my 50-something eyes so I manually changed the xorg file setting to 1280, still small but manageable.

I am seeing an text-overlap problem on this site:
http://sewelldirect.com/ComputerSystems/NotebookComputers

Can others look to see if they are using goofy proprietary MSIE-friendly only code or if the problem on my laptop, please?

Looks OK to me, on a 4:3 CRT at 1024x768. Perhaps you could post a screenshot to tinypic.com?

Edoc,
I think it has been told to you before.
Please don't embed a picture in a post which is larger then 600 pixels. It ruins the thread as side scrolling has to be done for seeing the thread now.

Agree with what Béèm says. That's why I recommended posting to tinypic.com.

Try: Edit --> Preferences --> Appearance --> Fonts

Proportional sizes (pixels): Proportional 14, Monospace 14, minimum size 12 pixels, uncheck Allow documents to use other fonts

See if it works now.

I don't recall such an instruction but there have probably been several hundreds of posts ... I thought I was following the instructions

I was unaware that tinypic.com did not automatically resize the image - I have not used it before and the Web site text implies that they do auto-resize.

Sigh.

And that is why I used tinypic.com

I have no idea why tinypic.com failed to work correctly.

That appears to have solved the problem. Thanks!

Now on to getting my CF-27 working (is appears to run way faster in 4.11 than under prior versions and handles a pcmcia-to-usb adapter well enough to allow use of a GigaFast USB wireless nic) - now to figure out how to use the serial port.

Edoc,

Disclaiming inside knowledge into Béèm's head, I think he meant distinct difference between embedding and attaching and used the terminology properly.

In any event, using 1024x768 it threw all the postings into a wide format, requiring the horizontal bar to read very long sentences. I blocked the image with a right click and AdBlock extension.

Not meant to criticize, just technical information about what happened, on my end.

Bruce

This is what has been set up in the puppy forum.
Attaching a picture to a post
If the picture is >600 wide a script prevents from displayin in the post and an external clickable link is created.
Embedding a picture as Edoc did
The forum script can't detect this situation and displays the picture as is.
Thus a 1024x768 picture ruins the thread on a small display.
So it's the posters responsibility to provide pictures to be embedded being not larger then 600.

Did you understand that Edoc?

Edoc,
Now that you understand, can you resize your picture to 600 and upload it to the same place you did so replacing the big picture.
