I would love to try out your remaster. Does the card reader work too? I'm guessing the microphone works properly too as you added Skype.
There is a real demand for a working linux distro on these things other than linpus and Puppy has all the right stuff.
Unfortunately, humyo will not allow me to use a download manager.
I can only download during certain hours and I have to limit speed.
Would it be too much trouble to upload elsewhere?
I can't specify an alternate but maybe someone else could please?

Try ftp://puppy:puppylinux@ftp.servage.net
and create an Aspire directory there.
EDIT: Hosting is compliments of GermanPup.

For the mic you will need to use alsa mixer to unmute internal mic and turn up mic boost.
Let me know if the cardreader works. The card may need to be inserted before boot up, I don't have a card to test.

Excellent, it will be great to try this out. Many thanks.
Please could you post an md5sum for the iso so I can check the download is good?

My first post, so hello to everyone
This looks really good for the one, and works a treat for me, except it fails to boot with an sd card in either of the slots, which with a lowly 8gb version, is a bit of a sod.
Other than that its really good, and only having bought my one a week ago, and being a bit of a Linux noob, its great to have discovered the mine of information that these forums are.
Best regards
Frenchie

Hi everyone.
New to Puppy, been using Ubuntu for a while on my main laptop.
Looking forward to trying this out on my new Acer Aspire One when I'm home from work and contributing to working out any kinks as much as I can.
One quick question regarding the remix, is it setup to reduce SSD wear by default (i.e. no filesystem journaling, temporary RAM partitions for logging, etc...)
If not the Ubuntu Acer doc has some good info on configuring these, would that all apply under Puppy as well?

Just one small thing that is bugging me, the clock in the taskbar is showing as a mixture of 12 and 24h, ie 09:02pm.
I have been looking for ages to find the setting for just 24h without success, can anyone help? I have gone through the set-up menu a few times, but it does not change

Just an update
Almost ready for another release based on MU's .27 kernel pup.
Audio works volume is low
wireless including wep works
openbox with cairo-dock and pwidgets
I had a question about extra function keys and have started looking in to this. What I had included in the last realease was useless but I am gaining an understanding of the system and have updated some programs to help with this. I hope to have this working in the next couple of days.
Here is a peek

If it can help to fix the volume...the only distro I have tried with "normal" volume is mandriva one 2009.
I look forward to run Puppy on my little Acer

Volume seems much better!
all hardware works except some function keys that is what I am working on.
The wireless switch works, but after you turn it off and then back on you need to run the connection wizard again.
Both sd card readers work if the card is in @ boot.
No wifi lights due to ath5k driver not supporting it.
Still working on a way to get the external monitor function key to work without killing X or Rebooting. Any suggestions would help.
I will probably try to get a lid close to trigger a shutdown as I haven't played with hibernate at all yet.
