Thanks
A new version will be posted soon. It will have a nicer interface. I have had a report of the sdcard readers not working but have not been able to test myself yet.
I apologize for the keyboard being customized to qwerty and this will be corrected also.

Thanks Craig. Excellent work. Looking forward to your newest remaster.
I have not had time to test much myself but I can attest that card readers do not work nor will AA1 Pup boot with a card in place.
The 2.6.27 kernel seems to be the answer.

I tried the puppy based on the .27 kernel but could not get wireless working even with the compiled drivers. Plus the internal mic would not work without a patched alsa. I guess I am going to have to find the time to learn how to compile stuff.

Under the 2.6.27 kernel the standard "ath5k" driver should support the Aspire One's AR5007EG wifi device.
But if not, MU has compiled the modified "ath_pci" driver compatible with his .27 version of Puppy 4.1, here -

I did try both ways with no luck a while ago but I will have another go at it in the next couple of days, very busy this week.

Ok bought an sd card it hangs on boot up in either slot, insert after boot either slot recognizes it after I used acpi=off in my extlinux.sys file (or boot option in grub menu.lst
Will try to figure out the boot hang, any suggestions appreciated.

Aspire one puppy |

For me all the hardware works except the right card reader.
Also, when I click hide panel in the JWM menu, it tells me (I forget the exact wording) "file corrupt, reverting to original".
It's great to have an alternative to Linpus for the AAO that actually works without having to spend days typing in terminal and searching forums etc. Thanks for your work!

I don't own a aspire one or a eeepc but I'm just wondering something, maybe once you get more advanced in linux, Maybe it might be a good idea to implement a few changes, such as.
Strip down Xorg to only aspire one drivers, and have puppy boot straight to the desktop, basically removing Xorg screen selector and options at bootup, Then maybe once the desktop opens for the first time something like LXRandr pops up and lets you select the default screen size and save the settings. Then maybe the keyboard language wizard would open. Also as Audio drivers goes, just about all could go and keep the aspire one only,/
you could get rid of SCSI drivers, etc. remove everything that isn't aspire one related. That would trim down the size by a lot.
anyways just an idea, great job.

Two questions: |
|
Thanks a lot for the Puppy Live AA0-edition. It looks great on my AA0.
Two questions:
1. How can I save changes to the pendrive, and not to the SSD? Seems like puppy wil not permit this. Only option is builtin SSD.
2. Wireless is recognized but it seems like it is impossible to conect via the wizard.
Added:
I a now running the latest version 2 of Puppy live on my AAO, using my Nokia 6680 as a GPRS modem, without any extra config, just setting up the dialup client. All looks very nice and rather fast too.
But still cannot write changes when ending session. How can this be done?
I almost forgot to add that only the left card is reconized.

Hmm
Wireless should work using the wizard I have had no issues. This is stock puppy 4.1.1 with stuff added but I chose to customize for my (aspire one) hardware this is perhaps what has caused it not to give you the save options. I will test out on a virgin aspire and see what happens. I will be releasing a modified version as soon as I can, mainly look and feel changes. I will also try to get things working with the 27 kernel this may allow us to boot from the sd cards. Both of my sd cards work after bootup using pmount.
Tuuxx That is what I would like to do but currently lack the knowledge and time (Time is the biggest impediment). Do you suggest I build from unleashed, I have never done that before. How do I identify needed modules? If I delete them and use the regular remaster would that work?
So many Questions
