How do i stop Puppy from saving on exit?

Hi guys, how can i stop puppy linux from saving the profile on exit. I can get it configured the way i want but then i want to stop it from saving to the profile every time i shut it down, kinda like it would be nothing but a live usb OS instead of a persistent one.

Could be real handy if somebody was getting a school up etc.

Recently similar question came up and I think the advice given to make the pup_save read only.
Don't know if it had been tried and if it was successful.

Two suggestions

1)remaster a custom version (include /ect folder) and never make a save file on shutdown.

2) multisession ... save after 1st boot but not on subsequent..(by removing the cd / finalising the disk)

I found a much simpler way of preventing puppy from saving on exit. I used a high speed SDHC card in a compact SD card reader and i put the cards lock switch in the lock position, so even though puppy says it's saving, it actually doesn't save at all.
Problem solved. This is going to be a huge career helper for me.

What I do is just turn the power off on the tower or hit the reset switch on the tower, and don't bother with the menu/Shutdown features at all

Simple yet effective lol
or backup your pupsave and rename it to something else, like pppupusave and store it some place secure where it won't be deleted and then just reinstall it after reboot

Principle 1

If you don't want to keep anything from your sessions, just boot with the pfix puppy=ram option. Don't make a pup_save on shutdown.

Principle 2

If you want to add to Puppy's default applications, change them or make configuration changes, do it in pup_???.sfs

Principle 3

If sometimes you want to save files or whatever, set grub up for two options, (1) boot to ram, (2) boot normally.

I wanted to do this too,after a few failed attempts I decided on a multi session CD.Using Pburn,I burned off the puppy iso without finalizing .After booting,I customized everything to my liking such as auto connecting to my wifi,installing add ons for Seamonkey and adding my bookmarks.

After all that,I go to reboot the computer,and when prompted if I want to save the session,I choose to save it to a CD.Now I can now boot up puppy as a live CD,with the pros of virtually being immune to malware/viruses,but still having everything customized like a installed OS.Just make sure to select "Don't save" when rebooting.

Yo...ran multisession like this for ages for the small boys machine...no hard drive either...just used to hit the power button...petty bomb proof.

Plus if you DO want to save then you still can ..puppy , your flexible friend.

try doing that with vista
