XPENGUINS / XFIREWORKS / XSNOW / XANTFARM / XPUPPY

#1 Post by puppyluvr »

:D Hello,
Well, I always liked these little guys!!
So I made a Pet.
Works best on E-16 / KDE / Gnome / Compiz-Fusion.
((@EDIT..Works on JWM/Icewm too... :D
After starting Xpenguins open a terminal and type "rox -p=" to turn off the rox pinboard.)
(To restart the pinboard open a terminal and type
.................................................................................
"rox -p /root/Choices/ROX-Filer/PuppyPin"
(Or cut-n-paste this to a new script., for convenience..)
Works Great on Compiz, on all desktops, and the cube!!
Tested on E-16 , Compiz, Jwm and Icewm....The XPenguins website has instructions for Gnome and KDE..
:D :D ON E-16

:D :D ON Compiz

ENJOY :D :D

I like the little guys also. In fact, I have them running together with my wdm login screen. My 4-year-old son likes to watch the worms theme and alos gety a kick out of seeing 5,000 penguins(or whatever) starting at once...

@puppyluvr
The instruction you have quoted for restarting the pinboard by clicking on .xinitrc has problems.
.xinitrc is used to start several daemon processes, rerunning it will cause multiple instances of these processes
to restart the ROX pinboard without further implications try

Code: Select all

rox -p=/root/Choices/ROX-Filer/PuppyPin

:D Hello amigo,,

:D Not yet, as I havnt quite finished it yet, so I havnt uploaded it anywhere..So I Tar`d it up for ya..Well call this an alpha! :D
2 directorys in the tarball:
XPark...Put this in /usr/local/share/Xpenguins/Themes
Extras: 3 scripts.( plus icons)
Put these in root, where they are easy to find.
XPenguins starts a menu to let you chose which theme..
XPark starts the XPark Theme automatically..
XParkOFF kills Xpenguins / XPark and restarts ROX..

Enjoy...Jay...

Edit: This is the G-rated version, in the PG version, Cartman is more himself...
Also, if you start this Theme from the console, you will get a few error msgs about image sizes...Im workin on it. :D

:D Hello,
Well, I tarred up 10 Themes for Xpenguins, including my own XPark Theme, which now has 10 characters!! :D
Just put them in /usr/local/share/xpenguins/themes...
Also made an XFireworks Pet..(from BSD).. It is set up for older hardware, so it runs very fast on newer machines..I have posted a script below to launch it and configure it to run slower..
XPenguins, XFireworks, and XScreensaver .Pets are all at my Buddapup link below...

I'm new to Puppy. I downloaded the desktop toy and installed it, but I don't seem to be able to do anything with it. Help, please, and remember that I'm a beginer, please

:D Hello swen,
To launch XPenguins in default mode, there should be a menu entry in "Fun"..
However, you will have to manually turn ROX on and off...The attached scripts will do it automatically, and give you a theme menu...
If you want more than one Theme, there are a few in a post above with instructions..
The scripts to launch and close Xpenguins, along with a theme menu, are attached below...
The scripts for Xfireworks are in a post above...

:D Aitch,
Yea, I love these toys...although..
The XPark thing is prob infringement, though I drew all the images, but I figure, after all they have done, Matt and Trey aint gonna sue me...If they do, at least I get to meet them...LOL...

:D Hello norbert51
I think ? this is what you wanted..
Remember that you must turn off the Rox pinboard to see it, as with all XToys.
There is a post earlier in the thread with instructions for turning it off and on..
