Puppy 4.1 Belkin PCMIA 54G F5D7010 and Ralink RT2500 driver

#1 Post by itsagas2 »

I upgraded from Puppy 4.0 to 4.1 and seen my network connection speed drop literally by half the speed it was. When I opened a bittorent connection I could barely manage a slow signal.

I blew away all my saved Puppy configuration files, pup_400.sfs and pup_save.2fs and tried a fresh configuration install but still had the same problem.

I went back to Puppy 4.0 and got my network speed back and my torrent download speed back.

Did something happen with 4.1 to degrade the RT2500 wireless PCMIA driver, possibly?

Maybe it depends on the 4.1 version you took. Normal or retro.
It could be that the other one performs better.

Otherwise ,Dougal is the man of the network wizard and drivers. He has a thread here, so by posting there you might have more attention maybe.
Time savers:
Find packages in a snap and install using Puppy Package Manager (Menu).

Thank you,

Normal or retro and ,Dougal, I investigate more into this. I didn't know there were two versions of Puppy Linux.
