FirePup v0.03 released oct23/08

#1 Post by ttuuxxx »

Well its my Birthday today and I figured why not give a gift to all the people who like FirePup. :D

I'm making a new thread for 2 reasons
- This one I compiled with some different options and really needs to be tested,
- To keep the different bases separate.
From what I've seen its stable, plugins install using the plugin manager,
Still fast, but larger, I'll be trying to reduce it over the next few weeks.
Also I'll try to install a dictionary later on.

Note Previous Firefox/FirePup users
Uninstall previous version via the puppy package manager
-Delete usr/lib/firefox
-Delete ./root/.mozilla/firefox folder (hidden folder)

if you had any problems with the first release, then try this one, the only thing It doesn't have is a dictionary.

B. It works perfectly. I will include it in Concordia. I especially like how it handles youtube video. Nice! Bravo Zulu.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TTUUXXX!

FP0.3 loaded and runs very sweet on two kits; however extensions still will not auto download using the "add to firefox" button on the extensions webpage. Drag and drop install of downloaded extension works great. I am running Puppy 409 on one kit and Puppy 410 on the other.

Thanks for all the good work.

The extensions work on my pc, You have to install extensions for 1.5
try flashblock (you can uninstall if you want after testing.)
click on the first one on this page

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... rsions/433

Version 1.5.6 — May 17, 2008 — 68 KB
Works with:
* Firefox: 1.4.1 – 3.1a1pre
after clicking on it wait for it to install, Then look at your extension
window, just reset FirePup and you'll have your new extension.

Well the normal printer behaviour with firefox 1.5 is to auto detect cups and use lpr...obviously the cupsd would need to be running for this to happen.

@ttuuxxx - Thanks for the fast detailed response and you are correct ..... extensions do install directly from the webpage. Earlier I didn't notice the software install warning window which blocked the installations. Once I saw the warning and approved the site for installs things worked as advertized. Good Job .... Thanks again.

Hope that the birthday exceeded all expectation and here's wishing you many more in good health.

FirePup v0.02 can print into a shared net with a XP printer

Dear ttuuxxx:

Print work in my case:
Puppy v.4.1
FireUp v.0.02 (not 3!)
printer in a xp machine in a shared net (you helped me to run sucessfully! thanks!)
Print via cups (the one that comes with puppy, with not updates)

IMPORTANT: At least in my case the 'Print Preview' option don't work (open a window dialog telling that it is working and then CLOSES firepup).

Sorry for my stupid question. With v.0.03 it's possible to download and install the extensions without compille them?

Thanks for your develop of this particular & ESSENTIAL version of firefox!!!
