[Solved] No X after disabling HotPup

Will someone please tell me how, or point me to the info to solve this problem?

After running Dingo for several months, I tried to change the screen resolution with xorgwizard. After selecting 1024 x 768 depth 16, I clicked test. Xorgwizrd would set it to 1280 x 1024. I tried this 3 times with the same result. Then I used the Resolution Changer to set it. All looked good. On rebooting, X would not start. I tried tweaking xorg.conf , no change. I even booted to ram, mounted the save file and copied the entire contents of /etc/X11 from another save file that has the correct screen setup, no change.

Please, what files would have to be deleted or edited to force Puppy to rebuild the video configuration from scratch for this save file?

These logs might indicate, what is wrong.
Also try:
mv /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf-backup1
xorgwizard

So you move the old conf, so that Puppy starts with an empty one.

Puppy rebuilt the xorg.conf file. It looks good but still no X.

This problem was not caused by changing the screen resolution. During the same session as the resolution change, I had also disabled the HotPup daemon, and this caused the problem. Somehow /root/.xinitrc gets corrupted when the daemon is disabled from the HotpupSettings script.
