Sub_title: Simple Software Installer for 4.xx series Puppy and Puplets

Light Installer Tmxxine GPL v3 License
LIT 3 created by Lobster November 2008

Now includes Petch from Tom
thanks to MU for programming advice

Designed for Puppy Linux Dingo 4, 4.1 and 4.1.1
Linux Tmxxine, Macpup and other puplets

    Add major software
Add official .pets (Puppys own package format - just click on them to install)
Use 'Cloud' Online facilities (Extras / Online programs)
    Setup Puppy
Simple search of software repositories using Petch fron end

Two formats for adding software packages:

* .pets (Puppy Extra Treats) - download and click on to install
* .sfs (squash files) - download to /mnt/home/ and run Menu / System / Bootmanager configure bootup and reboot

To use the petch front end
place a name of a library or package in the install bar
and click on OK

More upgrade fun here

Notes For Developers

not much harder than HTML to understand
Easy to modify

Not everyone like their operating system to yodel on startup (no idea why . . .) for those so inclined or wishing for another sound file on startup - the info is here:

The programs are complete pets or sfs files
which are downloaded as required

LIT is just an easy to use linking program to major .pets and SFS

Version 3 now available - No Yodel
(see first post in this thread)

More major software to install
Petch front end searches Puppy repositories

I was not happy with Linux Tmxxine Dark Force
it is much more reliable that people add software as they need it.

If you want to remove (most well behaved) pets
open the Puppy package manager and click on the package you wish to remove . . .

Smile

Thanks for the update Lobster! I had version 2 installed in Dingo 4.0 and 4.1.1 and found it very handy whenever I needed something in a hurry. Great idea and very useful! Much appreciated for your time and effort involved mate. Smile

Amicalement/Cheers,
