Want pup001 on hda3, not hda1

I'm runnning a SuSE system without Windows dual boot. I'd like a 2nd Linux distro for trouble shooting. I tried Puppy but it put pup001 in my boot partition hda1 and filled it up. Can I get puppy to use hda3 for pup001, its my home partition?

If you take the 3 option on bootup you can specify the partition and pupfile number i.e. pup001 or pup002.

If you just hit enter Pupy will do it's own thing.

If you are running Suse you probably have GRUB booting it. (this is Suse's default)

This is what I'd do:

1) Copy Puppy's vmlinuz, image.gz, usr_cram.fs to / on hda3

2) Edit hda1/boot/grub/menu.lst and insert these commands

• title Puppy Linux
  kernel (hd0,2)/vmlinuz root=/dev/ram PFILE=pup001-none-262144 PHOME=hda3
  initrd (hd0,2)/image.gz

This should give an option to boot Puppy from the hard disk and
place pup001, which is where you want it. You can put the CD disc
on the shelf as you won't need it much.
