Muppy 008.4c (final release)
SERVICEPACK 1
I created two Servicepacks, english and german.
Servicepack1 is for Muppy 008.4c uploaded before September, 18, 2008.
On September, 18, the Isos were updated, and now already include the changes from Servicepack1.
Get it here:
ftp://ks301128.kimsufi.com/Muppy0084/fi ... vicepacks/
english:
changes german text when Muppy starts to english (/etc/rc.d/rc.local0).
english and german:
Replaces:
/usr/sbin/grubconfig
Grubconfig will set a drive "read only (ro)" on full installations.
I replaced all "ro" with "rw".
This might fix the issue reported by sage.
It also should fix the issue, when settings are not saved using a full installation.
If you already created a full installation, you must edit yourself /boot/grub/menu.lst, and replace "ro" with "rw".

Change from ro to rw stopped the x looping on my box. The dvd burner is not recognized in my full install. It was okay in the live disk and my second harddrive is not recognized after the full install. Only hda1 & 2 not hdb5 & 6. Muppy is installed on /dev/hdb6.
I tried to get my BFG 8800 nvidia card working but after the install at the prompt I got into a loop again. Typing "startmuppy" just returned me to to the dialog screen "type xwin to start jwm, reboot or shutdownor xorgwizard. I tried cfwizard both auto and manual selecting the newer board.
Having a newer video card and not getting it to work in any puplet is frustrating as hell, but, it is still more fun than windows. Muppy will provide many hours of fun. I should note that Dingo 4.08beta full install picked up both hardrives and DVD. The CD/DVD wizard in Muppy said no drives detected.
ASUS P5K Premium
Pentium Dual Core
Samsung DVD burner (sata set to IDE)
BFG 8800 GT 512 OC (Nvidia)

I think I will upload a DVD edition this weekend (Live with everything included, so a 2 GB Iso).
It takes 4 hours to build it, and another 5 to upload.
As it has to be done for 2 languages, it will happen when the reports here show no further serious bugs.
It would be extremely timeconsuming, to upload bugfixed versions again.
Tomorrow I'll upload the buildsystem, at weekend the DVD version.

Fishy,
as I need to buy a huger CFcard first, at moment I just can guess.
Please look, if there are the nodes for your drives in /dev/.
You should have /dev/hda6
If not, copy them over from the CD while you run Muppy booted from CD.
Also run
fdisk -l
to see, if your drives are listed.
Or:
muppyfinddisks -all
Are they visible with these commands?

I just started downloading "Muppy-Live-008.4c-EN.iso" and was at 7% and now cancelled it. Good you let me know that you were going to release a dvd version.
so basically let me get this straight
Muppy-Mini is just a basic system and following addons can be installed on it addons.sfs, games.sfs and office.sfs. but for those who don't want to install three addons can simply get megapack.sfs. so I figured getting Muppy Live will get everything but Live is missing megapack.sfs.
So now will the dvd version that you will release will include everything (all addons) including megapack.sfs. Am I correct?
Sorry for the long question.
And I would like to suggest something if you don't mind since the dvd release would be 2gb I would suggest you should split it up to several parts for easy downloading. This would save bandwidth and prevent file corruptions.
Thank You for the quick response.

GeexBoxer,
no, it is like this:
1.) Mini + addons + games + office = Live
2.) Mini + addons + megapack = Live + development + kde + gnome
The DVD will be like 2.) , just that everything is in one single file.
So you can run KDE and everything else directly from DVD.
And write a script, that creates one single file again.
I did this for Megapacks back in 2006.
But you also could use "wget -c" to resume iterrupted downloads.
That is easier than to use a script I think.
What would you suggest as best method?
I have shell access to the server, so it does not matter, I can run every comand I need.

regarding the split, no problem I'll use the wget as you are suggesting.
Thank You

Just like to say I am using this now for the 3rd day
(which might not seem very long but quite often I find some required facility not available and resort to the latest Puppy Official version within a couple of hours of puplet usage)
Once I had changed to JWM, disabled the desklets and switched to Seamonkey, I have something very familiar to Puppy users.
The default system was too radical (it would suit a new user or someone familiar with Muppy)
I (briefly) tried installing Xara Xtreme (a couple of pets) but it is not on the menu and frankly I have just been mostly using Seamonkey and have not tried very hard. (Been busy preparing a new timber floor I have built for its final layer - put in the underlay yesterday)
How would you recommend installing xara or any other package?
I am rather intrigued by Slackware compatibility . . .
How effective is that for installing?
Basically I have found Muppy completely workable
As Sage mentions - no show stoppers; just works
Good luck with the DVD version

Ttuuxx version works up to the 3.xx (from what I remember)MU wrote:the version from ttuuxx is the same as mine.
I did not check his version, as I did not know about it.

Yours installed fine in Muppy - sorry about duplication
It is so long sijnce I installed that I used the two pets from my HD
rather than the complete ttuuxxx .pet
Maybe someone will test both and see if there is any difference
- Probably very slight?
I am running IceWM at the moment very nice - OK really must try Muppy and compiz fuzion soon . . .
Was hoping to try Muppy on the Asus Eeepc but need to start laying a laminate floor today . . .
Re: Muppy 008.4c (final release)
Thanks...downloaded, burned and booted up without a problem.MU wrote: MUPPY-LIVE
One note, the CUPS in the distro doesn;t recognize my HP Laser4Plus connected via USB, so I installed cups-install-v0.3.pup and cupspdf-0.3.pet

There were some problems! Had to increase the mem to 512.
