I seem to remember that a while ago, a version of The Gimp was made to be more like Adobe Photoshop. Gimpshop was the name it was given. So, my answer is "yes" to your second question.
My computers use RALINK wireless cards. I use Puppies of many types with these cards. My problem is my network has WPA encryption but the recent linux RALINK drivers have not supported WPA. WEP is OK as far as I know.
So I use ndiswrapper with the rt2500usb XP driver that came with the cards. Puppy's Network Wizard has made connecting easy with my RALINK cards this way. If your network is not WPA then one of the RALINK drivers in Puppy could well get you connected to your wireless network.
From your question, I assume you are thinking of trying Puppy and are using Windows to wirelessly connect now. So your computer should have the drivers already if Puppy's linux drivers don't suit.
Download a Puppy iso and try it. Ask the forum for help if you have a problem once you get Puppy running and try Pup's Network Wizard.
So, my answer is "yes" to your first question too.
