I installed LinCity NG in Puppy 3.01. I note that the OpenGL option is not working or enabled. I have OpenGL installed.

Am I losing any functionality in the game by running it without OpenGL?

LinCity 1.0.3

When I installed this game in puppy from the .pet I noticed that I could not get the NewGame, LoadGame, and SaveGame screens to function properly. After examining the file structure and the .xml files that govern the gui of these screen, I was able to refashion them so that all of the parts work as advertised.

My changes are eclectic to a person seasoned in xml coding. It is a scattershot method, but it worked. Anyone is welcome to refine the appearance and function as they so choose.

I altered three files: loadgame.xml, newgame.xml, and savegame.xml. All of the files should be placed in the /usr/share/lincity/gui directory.

The saved games are placed in a hidden directory in /root/.lincity. And can be delete is you wish to create a new set.

The userconfig.xml file resides in this hidden directory and can be modified to suit your needs. I modified mine to reflect a 800 x 600 screen resolution.

Puppy doesn't include Mesa so all OpenGL stuff is out. I doubt OpenGL support actually makes this particular game look any different.

Sub_title: Objects look the same

I just installed Lincity in Puppy 3.0.1.3.2 and notice the objects shown for different things look the same, would the file changes mentioned in the previous resolve that problem. Could the author make them available?

Thanks, Jerry
