Hi all !

I’ am newbie in Linux. I have been installed puppy-3.01-seamonkey (PIII 550/128MB/Radeon 7000 VE).
As you now, Radeon VE has troubles with TV out so I need use vesa:vidix for TV out. I’ am selected you precompiled version of mplayer but I don’t now how to correct installed it !

After untar MPlayer-1.0rc2BB-486.tar I copy files to

Etc => /etc/
Root => ~/
Usr => /usr

But after command mplayer –vo vesa:vidix test.avi
mplayer –vo xvidix test.avi
mplayer –vo X11:vidix test.avi

I’ am received answer: … no VIDIX

What’s wrong ?

ouch !
whats wrong is I made a pet not a tar
it auto installs no command line needed
just checked the package its there

/root/MPlayer-1.0rc2/vidix

if you come back in about 2 hours I will have the lighter version available too

it is a pet
only click on it it auto installs
the sever is unstable for downloads
a good practice is to use wget -c -N URL goes here

you can do numerous downloads that way wget is the best download manager you can use and easy

I just downloaded the mplayerplugin-3.5.0-k2.6.21.7.pet from your page and the file size listed there is 1.9 mb, but the file i downloaded was 5.8 mb.
Has some stuff been added to it?
The MPlayer-1.0rc2BB-486.pet is suppose to be 27 mb , it downloaded to 63.8 mb.

SMplayer has DVD support: titles,chapters,angles and good subtitle and audio channel support.
It needs QT installed (there are dotpets available) and the Slackware binaries install easily in Puppy 2.14 and up.

Installed this Mplayer. However, I can't run it due to a missing library (libfribidi.so.0). I did a pfind, and found libfribidi.so.0 on the root (/root) directory. What should i do from here on in?

Thanks.

Hello

I've found this thread after searching the forum for help with playing streamed WMV content but must be doing something wrong with installing these packages.

For info: I've got puppy 4.1.1 as a full hard drive install with a swap partition and one for data and no other OS on the PC.

I downloaded the *.pet files from the 9th Aug posting to my data drive and tried to install by clicking on the *.pet files - first the player then the plug in. This started the package manager and I OKed to install. There was no confirmation of installation but no errors either but I can't find the programme anywhere, it's not on any of the menus or on the list of packages that can be uninstalled as some other .pets I've added are although if I click on the downloaded files again the package manager warns "this package is already installed" so I cancel the installer.

Any idea as to how to get this working would be welcome - for instance I don't know where in the file system the progs should have gone so can't check to see if anything installed.

Thanks for any help

Will

packages are logged in /root/.packages

that's a hidden folder

so click on the eye to see it
the installed packages have a * .files
and that shows you what got installed

all that is not really needed to know but just because you asked

the easy way is if you dont get the last green
shield saying all was installed correctly
it wasn't

sometimes a package wasn't built correctly
and you could open a terminal and type the package name without the version number
to launch it

in the case of mplayer the GUI front end is called gmplayer

monday I have some free time so I'll upload another package
I stripped down the original package to make it lighter

but the original package I posted here could be reinstalled if you need it now
