No sound: what's my next step?
Alright, so typing
Code:
aplay -l
on my puppy linux system gives the exact same chipset numbers as it does on my ubuntu system (which is checking the ALSA website confirms is correct for my hardware as well).
The only difference is, ubuntu actually plays sound.
I have turned the volume up using alsa-mixer.
Where to from here then?
I also have a soundcard driver on my motherboard cd for linux. It ends in .run (I know *nix doesn't use extensions but it might be a clue).
I am seriously a bit lost. Installing drivers in MS was just a point and click affair, which means I have no idea how this actually works.

Chris has a point: it's not good form to ask for help without revealing the hardware and Puppy version in question.
But since alsamixer will launch we can see that an audio device is recognised and ALSA drivers loaded.

Yes, but is the master channel muted? Press "m" to mute/unmute.
