Xerox Phaser 3120

#1 Post by vovchik »

Dear puppy-handlers,

I have a Xerox 3120 (which translates to Samsung M-1750). There are ppds available for this beast - and I have them installed - but I can't seem to get any cooperation out of the printer. In old Puppy 1.07, I could send it jobs, would hear the printer warm up and then got nothing as output. With Puppy 2.10 and the latest CUPS, I don't get even that. The printer is using usblp0 as a device, which seems to me to be correct.

All and sundry advice would be much appreciated.

WIth thanks in advance,
vovchik

Xerox Phaser 3120: SOLVED

#2 Post by vovchik »

Sorry that I'm replying to my own post, but I solved the problem I had been having with the Xerox Phaser. It turns out that I unwittingly once copied ppds over the usblp devices in /dev - and never noticed that error until now. After fixing that problem, I was able to get the printer to work using the Samsung 1710 gdi (foomatic) ppd. Needless to say, I am very happy. The print quality with that driver and CUPS is great.

I am a software engineer and i am using HP printer for the last three years. The printer is inkjet model. The printer is cheap today than two years before. The printing cost is too low and the handling is also easy.
