Subject description: Through the USB Port

Anyone who can get the Speedtouch 530 v4 working on any version of Linux with detailed instructions will get $5.
I know, I'm generous.

Hi Gekko

I did have one of these working a while back, I can't remember what distro it was on though, I think it was xandros).

The main problem that people have with the speedtouch modems is that it requires both the driver and the correct firmware for the model.

I remember that I used the config script and instructions from here:
http://steve-parker.org/speedtouchconf/

You will need to have dev.sfs for your puppy version running.

That was for the 330, and the reason the script doesnt work is because teh 530 stays online and have volitile memory, meaning the settings stay when the computer goes, yet the 330, its a failure >_>!

for the money Wink, but anyway...

I realized that Slax detected my Speedtouch 530 when connected to a USB port thanks to cdc_ether module, so I loaded it on Puppy (Network wizard -> Load module button -> More tab -> Specify button and type cdc_ether) and it worked.

For the current session, 'modprobe cdc_ether' does also the trick.
