BuddaPup 2.17 with E17 wm

#1 Post by hladik »

Two problems here: I switched to JWM but now can't get back to Enlightenment 17 wm. What is the secret code after "xwin" at the prompt?

Also, Firefox crashes repeatedly.

Love this version though because the author has the wisdom to include xmms and mplayer. gXine should be sent to hell with a one-way ticket. Now if I could find the xmms crossfader plug-in I'd be in heaven. Don't understand this chaotic Puppy package/repository system.

@ Please post any questions on the Buddapup thread, I will see them and respond
faster then.
Yes, I love MPlayer as well, even on Windows.. As for the Pet system, the easy
answer is Caneri`s site. ... www.puppylinux.ca....The link at the bottom of this post
will take you to a page with pets designed just for Puppy 2.17.

@ As for Firefox crashing, it is related to Enlightenment and Flash, (and Opera 9.25 in
Buddapup 217 occasionally does it too.)
Try Opera 9.51...

I havnt yet gotten Firefox 3 to get along with Buddapup 217, although Flock does
well, running from its own folder. (not installed) Just expand the tarball to /root and
open the folder. Click the Flock icon and be patient, as Flock is slow to start.
You can get Flock here..

@ Also check out the Buddapup thread for the announcment of Buddapup Dingo Alpha
Any suggestions for improvements are welcome...( It still has Gxine...LOL)
