problems with CM8330 in puppy 4.00
hi aitch
I have the following list, as we understand are other alternatives drivers:
op13sa2 yamaha opl3sa2+
cs4236 cirrus logic cs4235-9
cs4232 cirrus logic cs4232
sc4231 generic cs4231
es18xx ess es18x audiodriver
es1688 generic ess es1688/es688 audiodriver
sb16 sound blaster 16
sb8 sound blaster 1.0/2.0/pro
use sb16, sb8 and sc4231, but I did not get results, I do not have much knowledge, I do something wrong?
I love puppy, would be perfect with sound
in all but sb16 disabled list, but still no result, did I do wrong?

The problem is that the "legacy" ALSA driver section only lists non-PnP audio cards, but Linux typically has trouble detecting quite a few ISA cards, whether PnP or not.
The solution is to manually configure the correct ALSA drivers for your card. Your driver for your C-Media CMI8330 audio chip should be "snd-cmi8330".
Open /etc/modprobe.conf in Geany, and add these lines -
Reboot.
You might still need to run alsamixer (in the console) and press "m" to unmute the master channel.
