|
The desktop icons floppy and cdrom are not staying in the position I put them. After reboot they always jumping back to the same spot.
How can I fix this?

Puppy moves the xlock icon to the right side whenever it isn't already there. It also moves any icons that are in the same column as it. This could be where your problem lies.

Aren't those icons created by HotPup? I don't use HotPup, but if it draws the icons in a defined location, it might move them whenever it refreshes the icons to reflect mount status. Does this make sense, or am I completely off?

Yes I used HotPup to create them. It doesn't matter where I put them they will allways go back to the same position. (see PrtSC)

As I suspected. Unfortunately, I don't think there is anything you can do about this. You may be able to edit the code for HotPup to change where it draws the icons, but I'm not sure about that.
If you can run at a higher screen resolution, the location of the icons wouldn't be a problem because they would be far below the rest of your icons. I've seen a few threads complaining about the icon location on low resolution screens, and I think they ended up just turning HotPup off.
I'm sorry I can't be of more help.

Yes, it lets you set which edge of the screen it puts them on and I think which direction it starts drawing from. So I think you could move the trash icon up higher, then set it to draw going left from the bottom right corner.
The settings can probably be changed from Start->Desktop, but I'm not sure. I'm using an older Puppy right now.
EDIT: Actually, I misunderstood the problem. It's the clipped text, isn't it? I suppose you could either move the normal icons around to make space at the top for them, or you could find the script for hotpup and make the icons appear slightly higher.
