Python-2.5 - pycairo-1.2.6; pygtk-2.8.6 and pyrex-0.9.5.1a

#1 Post by wow »

http://www.python.org wrote:Python® is a dynamic object-oriented programming language that can be used for many kinds of software development. It offers strong support for integration with other languages and tools, comes with extensive standard libraries, and can be learned in a few days. Many Python programmers report substantial productivity gains and feel the language encourages the development of higher quality, more maintainable code.

Thanks!

Any chance that this authoring package be tested in your Python setup? (A dotpup will be sweet.) Thanks in advance. :)

Note: MU has a dotpup here, but that is for an earlier Puppy.

"sugar" environment

#6 Post by raffy »

I only have high praises for wow's skills in building Python.

Curiously, there is this "sugar" development environment for OLPC (one laptop per child project at laptop.org ). I wonder if the link for Puppy Linux there is the proper one.

Description:
http://wiki.laptop.org/go/OLPC_Python_Environment

See link to Puppy Linux here:
http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Setting_Up_a_ ... n_*IX_OSes

Puppy developers can then program for that environment without having to buy a $1M laptop. :)

The Puppy link in the OLPC wiki is not a useful one.
But we may not have to buy 1M laptops at a time, see this link:
http://www.euro2day.gr/articlesfna/31455348/
This development was more or less inevitable, I think, as the pool of people who want access to computing facilities grows and the hardware manufacturers respond.
Edit:
The Intel Classmate will be based on a Celeron 900MHz, have 256MB RAM and 1GB or 2GB of flash storage. The operating systems chosen: either Windows XP (that should be "interesting") or Mandriva 2007 Discovery edition. The Classmate looks to be another good candidate for Puppy.
No more info. on the Dell machine that they have announced.

I want to try learning Python and was wondering if anyone tried these pups in Puppy 4.00. Should I be concerned that they were compiled for 2.13?

Thanks,

cartz.
