Wie würde Sage sagen?
Sorry, des Himmel's Segen belohne dich.
Dummheit schützt vor Strafe nicht:
I Ching-Tümelei
"Wo aber einer nicht recht ist, da hat er Unglück.
No:25: "Wenn aber die Unschuld weg ist, wo kommt der hin?
Des Himmels Segen ist nicht mit ihm...."
Weisst Du eigentlich was ein Verlag ist? Der Klappentext: "Massgeblich für sämtliche westliche Kultursprachen"
Was Putin raucht? "Wahnwixer"!
"Wir taten ganze Arbeit...."

Monolingual English speakers may rest assured the preceding exchange was not simple madness. In case you were worried about missing vital information, I have added some references below.
Goethe
Eckermann
Conversations with Goethe
Cuckoo
Alchemy
Tree of Life
Number of the Beast
To Mega Therion
Aleister Crowley
Sun Tsu
I Ching
While it is hard to argue with the I Ching about stones, thorns, ignorance (innocence) and misfortune, or with master Sun concerning remuneration of spies, readers should be aware other sources are less reliable. Though admitedly unqualified to comment on the EU, or habits of national leaders, I doubt ancient Greeks had this in mind.

THe Linux Ghods are punishing me. Just when I was hot on the trail of remastering a new LiveCD, I got this urge to download the latest standard iso file.
I burned a new Live-CD and when booting I see:
Setup Unionfs Layered Filesystem
Perform a 'switch_root' to the new Unionfs Filesystem
And then I can wait, have a cup of coffee, go to the store, feed the cat and things go no further.
After downloading the iso several times, trying new media it's getting frustrating.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Minisys-Linux Muppy 008.3b (may,08,2008) |
|
I attempted to download the mini version only to find that I was unable to save this as a mulltisession DVD. Additionally it also required Nvidia drivers to resolve the screen splitting. The top of the page is shown below the start menu button and you have to mess about with the cursor to get anywhere. I was able to download the driver but the inability to save has left me waiting impatiently on a solution.
Looks good but too frustrating to keep messing about with settings and then having to go around again and again resetting things.
Looking forward to a resolution to this difficulty

updated goodies_083.sfs, it was missing liboil required for exaile.
NVidia:
The propriatary Nvidia-drivers are in addons-LANGUAGE_083.sfs.
They are very huge.
So you must get that loaded.
Try xvesa, if xorg fails.
Then shutdown, to create the savefile and get the bootmanager dialog.
There choose the addons and reboot.
Then Exit X, run xorgwizard again, and "xwin".
Now you should be offered to install the NVidia-drivers.
If you cannot get so far, try Standard, that already includes them at first startup directly from CD.

Apart from the fixes, there is only one major change:
zmsy_083.sfs is no longer included in the standard iso, as all drivers are already in msy_083.sfs.
I wonder, if that might cause your problem.
I will upload a Test-Iso, where it is included again.
It will take 3 hours or so, I will give you the link then.
Mark

It is completely obscure (to me) why anyone would want to use dedicated video drivers with a compact distro, especially mini-Muppy. I know these are quality offerings, but, surely, the intention is to provide a basic functionality. Derivatives like wNOP can experiment with Compiz-Fusion & co and gamers can get a PS3 or Wii. The major distros offer kitchen sinks. Otherwise diminishing returns and a waste of Mark's valuable coding time? Wood for trees, again - focus, please.

I added more games to the games_083.sfs
You can use it in Mini+addons.
Standard 008.3c already includes them.
It now is 56 MB in size and includes:
abuse
AceOfPenguins
brickshooter-0.04-i486
descent2
dreamchess
dwarfconnect4-1.0-i486
eggchess
flashgames
freecell
gltron
gsodoku
lbreakout
ltris
mahjongg3d-0.96-i486
mahjongx
pacman
pinball
pinball-edit
seahaven
stormbaan
tkhearts
touchmegames-0.2.2-i486
tuxracer
xgalaga-2.1.1.0-i486
xgalaga-plusplus-0.7-i486
xgammon
xmgobang-0.52-i486
xpat2
xsoldier-1.4
xtux
zaxxon
Special thanks to muggins and kirk, who packaged many of them.
There are some "shooters" included, but no ultraviolent, realistic games.
So I think it is ok to add them to a "family system".
For more heavy games look for the extra-CD "hurt-me-plenty".

I followed your advice and downloaded the standard issue only for it to incorrectly display on screen.
I once again was using a multisession DVD and wonder is multisession a problem when using Muppy?

until now I just used frugal installations, not multisession.
I never had a bugreport concerning this.
Had you tried Puppy 3 before with multisession? Did that work?

Sad to say....it still will not boot....same messages as before. Do you have the "pre-fix" iso available? I managed to erase mine.
Sure hope this prblem can be made to disappear....I'd love to be able to use the new version.

no, I don't have it any more.
But I could upload in maybe a week, from our backup server when I'm back in the north.
Did you use an existing savefile, or also a new one?

That would be nice...perhaps someone has it who has some space and bandwidth on their server.
Since I only use a LiveCD, everything I do starts out clean...so there could not have been any old files around to confuse things.

I have no idea at all, what could go wrong..
I did not change the initrd.gz.
"mount" was changed, and NTFS-drivers.
But that should not affect you, if you run without any savefile.
I also tested ntfs on my own by installing frugal on a new ntfs-partition.
Did you try, if it also happens with the Mini?
