I ran the remasterscript, and created a textfile in /tmp/root, when there was the dialog that offered, that now things can be added there.
Then, when it offered the dialog to create the iso and burn the CD, I cancelled.
I copied a directory from /root/ to /tmp/root .... it really was there.
Used the remaster and did not burn a DVD, but created an .iso The dirtectory I added was not in the iso.

I'll try creating a live-dvd.

What's weird is that under .82 I can remaster with no problems.

Another strange effect is that after I closed down an app. and return to the Menu, sometimes the previously opened app. returns and must be re-closed before the Menu becomes accessible???

NTFS-drives and save-file:
I still get error-messages at shutdown, like "Journal commit I/O Error" .
It seems to have no negative consequence though.
I just want to confirm this issue. The error-message is still present but I do not experience any negative consequences.

updated all isos and addons.sfs with the latest patches.
Also Wine was upgraded to 0.9.61.
So do not install the Upgrade-Dotpup 0083-to-0083b , if you download those again.

Concerning the menu:
I will have a look on that, when I work on the menu-mechanism again.
If I find a solution soon, there will be another upgrade dotpup.

Just to clarify that, Mark, if I download the same files again, as per your link on p.1, these will now be the patched versions? I ask because they haven't been renamed or annotated.

yes, those are the same.
I just was too lazy to rewrite the links in the webpages for different names.

The md5sum of the addons-DE_083.sfs I just downloaded is

8e5f1e13bce0d5bb70557bf32a47b866 addons-DE_083.sfs

and does not match the md5sum stated in the
addons-DE_083.sfs-md5sum.txt

Could someone please check this as my download was reported to be correct.

Thank you.

I started a new extension.

ftp://ks301128.kimsufi.com/Muppy0083/goodies

It will contain new stuff, so that I must not rebuild all the isos, when only new small programs are added.

It currently contains:
Exaile Mediamanager/player
Gstreamer-python and libs for that
Details:
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=28866

Development files and all languages are included.

Requires:
Muppy-Standard or Muppy-Mini+addons-LANGUAGE_083.sfs
VERSION 008.3d already includes these programs, no more need to install the goodies!

This file will be extended with new stuff in unregular intervals.

Remastering Live-CD

#52 Post by tlchost »

Could someone be kind enough to attempt remastering a LiveCD of 008.3 with a directory and entries that have been created in /root

I have tried every way possible to add things to /tmp/root and they do not show up in the ISO. I have also attempted to copy the /etc/profile into /tmp/etc/profile, and that too never shows up.

I don't have Puppy installed on a hard drive...I run a Live-CD, so I'm looking to be able to remaster the Live-CD.

Could the script that is called when there is no room on the Live-CD and requests a blank DVD be used to create a new Live-DVD conataining the changes?

Thanks

@MU: I downloaded the latest version of Mini version and now am typing from it. The network worked. But I had to do few runs of the Network Wizard. I am glad it worked.

I see that Gxine is working now. But I am having an issue with Gxine, where it plays a file, I make it fullscreen, then when I hit "Escape" to exit fullscreen, it becomes a small screen without any controls (almost like hanging in Windows) and then I will have to do a killall gxine from console and restart it.

I had the same problems with 008.2 as well. But did not bother me much because atleast it plays the first time in Fullscreen.

I tested the other things I mostly use like Word, Flash enabled websites, Movie - No problems at all . :) Thank you !

Update: I updated the goodies_083.sfs, as exaile did not work.

Prit1: I have no idea, how to solve the issue with gxine.
I use mplayer usually.
The fullscreen code of gxine seems to be somewhat buggy, as all the reports for Puppy and jwm indicate.
I fear, I can't do something here.

@MU: The video streams I use from the internet have never worked well with MPlayer. This is why I dont prefer using this.

Did you use any other components from Lxde in MiniMuppy?

I love the context menu's (right click menu) look/theme.

Currently only Pcmanfm.
I also plan to add lxpanel as an alternative to my GtkBasic-Panel.
Some people will prefer that menu.
For other components, I must see.
I love the context menu's (right click menu) look/theme.
Can you explain that?
Where do you click?

Do you have a full lxde installation?

Unfortunately, GXine continues to give trouble with streams. Sometimes difficult to start, sometimes randomly cutting out and BBCWorldService still gives double reception. Xine is the one in my experience, GXine is the cuckoo in the nest.

Sorry, aber diese Deutsch-Tümeleien passen wirklich nicht in diese Support-Threads.
