Sub_title: Fantastic!

Hello All :

Trying out and writing you here from the lastest and greatest fire hydrant testing.
Wow! It is beautifully cohesive and polished. Kudos and hats of to the Developer.

I am definately going to install this puppy on the old box and eagerly await the Dingo version once all the kinks get worked out.

Mny Thx,
Vito

on this page http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=188522#188522 is the link to the fix which is a 25.5k file. Hope including it works out - I found out about it because it is in puppy dingo but I would rather run fire hydrant Smile

Thanks

Firstly - still loving firehydrant. Have sent 2 computers out from our computer recycling centre- PII desktops with 128mb of ram and I was very impressed with their performance at running the FHmain with Abi (117mb) version.

I am struggling with firehydrant on a laptop with unusual video hardware (Toshiba Presage 3110). I found on the forum http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=28058&search_id=1424581996&start=15
that I am not alone in having the computer hang while probing video hardware on old toshiba laptops. There is a fix available which is in the Beta Puppy4 version which I tried. Could I request that this fix be incorporated into the next (eagerly awaited) version of firehydrant. I would love to run firehydrant on the toshiba laptop but but for now will be content that it is running puppy 3.98.

Hi I'm not sure which version you wanted for your laptop here's the 3 versions in question
Fire Hydrant 3.01c FH_Jwm3.01c.iso 117MB <--- this uses JWM as the window manager

Fire Hydrant 3.0b featherweight3.0b.iso 131MB <---- this uses ICEWM as the window manager

Fire Hydrant 3.0b FHmainAbi3.0b.iso 205MB Abiword <---- this uses ICEWM as the window manager and has java and a few extra appliactions

The reason I ask is because you stated "FHmain with Abi (117mb) version" the FHmain is 205MB and the FH_Jwm3.01c.iso is 117MB
If all you needed was the patch on the FH_Jwm3.01c.iso 117MB I could easily do that and upload the fixed version but if its the FHmain 205MB version that would take some time since I want to upgrade that version with 3.01
thanks for your time

Overall - excellent - the older versions looked good - this one is superb with a crisper look and feel and lots of improvements. Nice icons and excellent graphics. You have added the things I missed - namely with inferno I couldn't manage to open a pdf file - this does it straight away - and photos open with a simple image viewer instantaneously. The fire hydrant machines I set up at the recycling centre had cards as an add-on for firefox, mt paint, frogger and freecell added on - now they are already included! Thanks. Smile Looking through the menus I can also see there are many useful programs I've not tried yet. By the way the test machine for this is a Compaq laptop, Presario 2500, which I returned to life after it was discarded by our local computer shop. Pentium 4 processor, 512mb of ram. Thanks Jeff for your work on this excellent puppy. Very Happy

Sub_title: doen't connect

Hello All:

Whereas, most 3.01 versions of puppy and the dingo 3.86 versions could connect with my dlink pci card using the atheros drive , this newest testing Fire Hydrant sees and scans the network but refuses to connect.

Anyone else have this problem?

Thx,
Vito

Sub_title: wifi now working

In order to get the wifi woking I upgraded the system with TMXXINE from fire hydrant testing. Now the wifi not only sees the network it connects and uses DHCP for IP. IT is using WEP encryption 64 or 128 bit 10 . hex.

This still keeps the hydrant programs and graphics.
Mny Thx ,
Vito

Hi Vito

Which version of Fire Hydrant are you using?
Are you using the one that this forum is made for? "Fire Hydrant 3.0" 192MB
or are you using my latest testing beta?
http://www.puppylinux.ca/ttuuxxx/firehydrant/firehydrant-301-retro.iso

If your using the 3.0 192MB version I could give you the links to the missing files

If its the 3.01 retro beta, I'll have to look into your problem Smile

Sub_title: does not connect

Hello Again,

Yes, I was using the 3.01 retro testing, here's the catch - have used the previous fire hydrant 3. and fat free, however, I don't remember if they had the connection problem or not.

All I know is that TMXXINE 3.01 is able to connect, so by using TMXXINE to upgrade the network drivers, I was able to once again connect.

Thx,
Vito
