rumoured and reported Puppy login

#1 Post by Lobster »

Be Careful - Not sure what is going on

Does this work for you?

In Puppy 1.0.5 pressing ctrl + alt + f2
will give us the much rumoured and reported Puppy login

What now?

Typing "root"
and then "startx" got me back into Puppy

Found the command here In the Newbies top 10 Commands
- Hey I am a back to Basics kinda Crusty
http://www.cmm.uklinux.net/steve/ntt.html

You will find that typing "Bash" in rxvt will give you a bash prompt but we have no locate. Would this be useful?

Hi lobster,

with CTRL-ALT-Fx you can switch to one of the virtual consoles.

This is quite normal.
Like this you could for example start X as a user "lobster" by default, and just if something needs to be done as root, switch to a virtual console.
There you might type in commands to restart a http-server for example.

To get Locate, you'll need the Findutils Dotpup.
