eee pc puppy getting tired

Puppy-eee 301 in use. . .

but wont go to sleep.

When booted from USB the batmon shows batery charge remaining. But when installed to the internal SD-HDD batmon just shows -%

And in either case the shutdown menu does not have suspend nor hibernate.

My search of this excelent (but very long) thread has not found a solution although I am confident that this has been done! Can someone point me in the right direction here?

Have a look at this, check your bios settings for acpi

Only by using the acpi=force setting can I obtain any battery indication funtions in any of the display mediums such as conky, or tray's in Dingo, PupEee, Breezy or wmpower in any of the puppy's without conky or tray display for battery............just for interest - here is my current GRUB setup. They all run very happily together.

I think ACPI controls whether it will respond to a hibernate/sleep call

Are you on a laptop? On my Compaq evo n610c I have to Boot ACPI=OFF in my GRUB for fan and battery control, else she overheats..If ACPI=FORCE doesnt solve your problem, you might try the other way..I dont use hibernate, since Puppy boots so fast, so I dont know how it affects that...Im sure it depends on the BIOS....

Hi; thanks for your replies.

I just worked out that when I installed, I picked 'IDE HDD' as the target drive, rather than 'Flash card in IDE adapter'. So thats why my Puppy is running as if installed on a regular PC with magnetic disk drive - frequent disk access! And may explain why acpi is not working??

I'm ging to re-install Puppy on the flash drive and see where we go from there.
