How to connect with 2WIRE USB 802.11g card?

#1 Post by kobe »

I've installed puppy once before and got it to work with my wireless card. But I forgot what I did to make it work! My card is a 2WIRE USB 802.11g, I have the windows driver for it and I tried to load the file into ndiswrapper but it tells me the driver is invalid. Please help!

what version of Puppy are you using?

I remember that for a previous version I released a network wizard that was a bit overzealous when checking the INF file.

You can either
- use a newer version of Puppy or
- download the most recent version of the wizard or
- install the ndiswrapper drivers manually

If you tell me which one you choose, I can try to help you with more details.

I will go with the second option! (and that reply was fast! thank you.)

I need to know what version of Puppy you are using.

The latest version I created was for Puppy 2.15. I know that 3.0 already has a newer wizard.

So if you are using 2.15 or older you should make sure you install this one

If you are using a newer Puppy, then we may need to go with option 3 as I don't know how the wizard has been modified ;)

I have also found difficulty in identifying a driver for my 2Wire USB adapter. I've downloaded the latest .inf file from the manufacturer, but when using ndiswrapper, I'm told it is an invalid driver. I'd be happy to use a linux dirver, but haven't figured out which one might work. I'm using Puppy Linux Very Happy v3.01 on a Compaq Presario 5610
